Noob question about male and female plants

Hello All,

Thinking about my first grow. I have a question about male and female plants. I have done allot of reading and if I am correct, the female is the desirable plant because it produces the buds to be smoked. A male left in with the female will pollinate her and she will produce allot of seeds.

My question is, will it be ok for a first time grow, if I only plant four or five plants and one or two of them winds up being male, to leave them in with the females? Would this make the females worthless as far as the buds go? Or could I then get good buds and seeds to plant in the future?

pull the males...get seeds elsewhere..it would be a waster of your time to let males go

Yeah get rid of the males they will jiz all over the place and you will be having tons of beanie babies if you don't. Peace.

If you don't want to order legit genetics online, this might actually be a good idea for you. Your information is correct, but if it is bag seed, there's a probability of a hermaphrodite. A female plant that also produces seed.
If you end up having two or three males, which I doubt out of those five seeds, only leave on living.
And a tip, always start with more seeds, you can pull wimpy plants if you only want two or three.
If you want seeds, keep a male, but there is a chance of getting seeds without a male too.

Thanks for the replys. If I only leave one living, won't he pollinate the other three or four females? How does this affect the female in regards to producing buds? Will it be comprised of mostly seeds and be bad to smoke, or does it just cut down on your harvest? Will a female produce no seeds at all without a male present? (Unless there is a hermaphrodite as stated above)

i just planted some seeds and they are growing and there all under 2 lights
when will i know if there male or not?

it will take a while... check out the FAQ sec and you can find out lots of info on the sexing isuue. there are pre-flowers that will let you know what the sex is, but that won't really help with the hermies.
