Noob: Plant is growing more leaves but less tall?

HI guys, I've got a question, why is my plant growing bushier instead of taller? I just tried putting on my growlights higher! It is day 28 of the plant. i found the seed from a bag of green picked up from my local plug! Also, should i start topping it or should i let it keep growing first? first time grower, Thankyouu

What kind of grow light do you have? The genetics could be more indica dominant and therefore be more bushy. Or you could have a fairly strong grow light keeping it from getting any taller, but I don't think that is as likely. It looks pretty dark, probably has alot of nitrogen in it. Also, topping it would make it even more bushy, if you wanted to you could top it now right at the 4 week mark and around the 5th node. After all plants are likely to almost double in height depending on the genes when you switch to flower so I would keep that in mind. In my very small area of experience (which is not much i've only done two grows lol) I think it looks good and that you could go ahead and top it. Maybe someone else with more experience than me will reply.
