Noob Grow!

Hey everyone, I decided to start a grow journal for my first real grow. First, so that I can look back and keep track of what I did, and second, so that I can get tips and tricks from all you pro "gardeners" out there! So first of all I guess I should start with my setup.

1 x 400watt HPS
(EDIT) 2 x 7 litre pots containing DiaHydro
PLUS: We decided that just to be safe were gonna put in 2 normal soil pots (pictures to come).
(and i know what your all thinking about the DiaHydro.."omg, what does he think hes doing!!! not using soil?!?!?!" haha. but i really wanted to see if this soil really works.."
1 x Small fan to keep heat off lamp and plants moving.
1 x Large fan to keep heat off lamp while closet is open.
So yes...a pretty small setup. But I dont have a lot of space for it. But being from BC, this stuff is pretty much in my blood, would you not agree?

We're growing Lowryder #2 bought off cannabis seeds - Seedsman Cannabis Seeds because its short and is probably the easiest to grow out of any strain. We decided we're gonna leave it on a 18/6 cycle the whole way through for optimum yeild (hopefully).

Here are some pics of our seeds germinating, setup, and first plant!

Comments and suggestions would be much appreciated!

Wish me luck!

UPDATE!

So we decided that we'd overhaul our setup for optimum results.
-We cleaned anything else out of the closet.
-Covered the inside with light proof sheeting top to bottom.
-Cut a slot in the top part of the outside sheeting beside the light for a vent out, which has had amazing results! If you put your hand by the fan the air it blows out is outstandingly warm.
-Cut another slot near the bottom which is moving cool air back in the room.
-We designed the outside sheeting so that it can move up and down with ease by reenforcing the sides with gaffer tape, slotting it at certain points, and running string rubber covered metal wire through it. Now we are able to access our plants without any trouble, while keep the room sealed when closed!

We're steadily running a daytime temp of 27 Celsius. Which is a great improvement from what we have before which was always up and down between 25-35 Celsius.

Our plants have popped out of the soil in the last couple days and they look great, they're loving the new conditions!

Attached are some photos of the new setup and plants.

Just posting some update pics. I moved the light a bit closer to the plants just now. Its about 2 and a half feet away from them now. Anyone think thats too close in the stage theyre in right now, being under a 400hps?

Thanks,
S.McB
