I run 9-12 grams at a time in a tube that 1inch diameter and only water bath and get shatter. I actually have found that the least heat possible while purging makes shatter. This is strain specific as well because there are some that wax/butter really fast and others that seam to stay more stable. I get back 2 grams a blast and then re-blast and get a little more. When purging i get my Pyrex hot and place it in another Pyrex a little larger full of hot water. take that outside and blast my run, i then bring it back in and put the smaller Pyrex with the un purged oil into an electric skillet with walls and set it to warm. Which is 120F. i unplug it the second i set the glass in the water and whip it pretty good until its thin all over and the majority of the bigger irregular bubbles are gone. Then remove from heat and whip again, walk away for 10 minutes, place back into the warm water and gently whip this time and remove and let sit for 20 minutes to "dry". I am quite new at this but this method it getting me really nice shatter. One thing to take into account is once i scrape it up i put it in a container and dont touch for 2 days. After that it seams to stay very stable and only very slightly pliable at room temp and a little chilly and that shit is breakin like glass. Thought this might help, there are guys on here that may rip my method up, but, im a newbie and this is working great, good luck! My advice is dont get overwhelmed and just give it a go, bring it outside when blasting, and trial and error will teach u the rest. O yea, and some of these guys here too hahaha

You need some heat to release the remaining butane no matter how you do it -vac pressure just makes it go faster. Winterization is an option but I prefer vac purged honeycomb over everything else because it's got all those yummy fats. Seems like it gets even better after it's been in the jar for awhile too. I kind of get disappointed now when I end up with shatter- I like to work it till it looks like peanut brittle or "spongebob" cheese then you know it's done & there's nothing left to purge. I have dabbed enough under purged BHO now to visibly see when it's done.

IMO it's overkill to buy a huge vac pump & chamber just to purge a g or 2 for personal use every 9 weeks like I do. I only make it for me- the ol lady still prefers smoking dank bud. I started growing & making concentrates to stretch my limited dollars & avoid getting ripped off by dealers who pretend to be your friends. Now that I know better I don't see the point in wasting more hard earned dough than I have to just to remove butane when I can get er dun using a brake bleeder, jelly jar, & a heat pad. I agree, I use a mason jar, mitty vac and heat pad (or hot water) for my purging of BHO. But I think I might winterizing next batch.

What is done differently to get "spongebob" wax lol. I just keep getting back dark clear shatter or nice colored taffy. vac purging on a griddle after blowing into hot water bath.

If you are especially intolerant or health conscious than vac purge is the only way to go, from a sort of patient prospective. I just do the bath method because I don't generate a ton of trim and what I do with it is for my own purposes only(edibles+hash), I would never give it to someone under the guise that it was 100% purged.
