no light for three days before chop?

Yes slow dry is very important and by doing so the plant can break chlorophyll down into sugars and when you trim when wet it makes that grassy hay smell like freshly mowed lawn which is the smell of chlorophyll.

I always do a 48hr period and sometimes 72 hr of darkness before I harvest. It's supposed to push the plant to make more trichromes, and help it fill in a little since it kind of panics (but not enough to stress the plant). I have two friends who are legit master growers and work for different dispensaries. Both grow in soil and both produce the best bud I can get from a grower I personally know. They both swear by it and the only way to tell is to send it in to a lab and test it. To see if one produced slightly more thc. I'm sorry but you are naive to think you can hold them up in your room and compare by the naked eye, get real. Also the results I've noticed are very subtle. Its not like one is going to bling more than the other or be considerably bigger than the other. however chop your plants when the lights are off so they are not uptaking nutrients even if its just plain water.

well chop is ttomoro...welll technically today but wat evaaaa. finish this bowl and go so schweep. be back tomoro

so heres my take on 72 hours of dark i read a old thread on brix levels and harsh smoke this guy claimed that if you have a high sugar content in your buds that the smoke would tast bad or unflushed or somthing to that extent if you have them in the dark the light reactions cant take place and since plants prossess there sugars during the calvin cycle or dark cycle that plant would consume excess sugar ...how ever flushing would have the same effect in my option cause with out minerals the plant cant do the light reactions and same effect ..i dont know if this is right.......or if sugar is the deff between sweet tasting ganja and shity ganja

the 72 hours of dark is for resin production not for flavor. flushing is a toss up i do a couple days flush and my bud taste great i think, and i've never had a complaint about "chemical taste". i have heard of people that flush for 2-3 weeks so idk

tried it didnt notice a thing.if it works for ya roll with it

it works for some strains more than others some friends and i were discussing this at the hydro store today i'll ask my friend for the research article and i'll post a link

If you really want to test this out you could have 1 plant in flowering and the other in the dark. When you go to put one into the 3 day darkness make sure that you water both wait 1 day then put 1 into 3 day darkness and once those 3 days are up test it out.

The 3 days of darkness is for potency. Light degrades THC, which is why most growers harvest prior to the lights coming on. Brick Top posted a study by SIMM (stitching institute of medical marijuana) that stated this technique showed up to 30% increases in THC in some strains. That does not mean all strains and it does not mean 30% every time...it might be 1% for you.

But it is the easiest and cheapest thing a grower can do. The only reason not to do it is if your outdoors or you want to chop the top half and lower your light to finish. Do a search on here as this has been debated several times.

i'm too lazy to reset my timers....although
i've read in books that fewer hours of light for a few days prior to harvest helps the plant produce more thc....but
did i mention i'm too lazy to reset my timers?

This all was mildly humorous to read. Some people shouldn't post when they're stoned.... IMO "hogwash" as Fdd said, so just chop, cure, and enjoy the "fruit" of you labor.

If you have the right temperature and humidity in your drying space the buds should dry slowly and the chlorophyll should break down anyway.

HERE IS SOME INFO I GOT FROM A POST BY BRICKTOP .
"The Stichting Institute of Medical marijuana (SIMM), the first company to sell marijuana through the pharmacies of Holland, has been investigating the medical possibilities of cannabis, together with TNO laboratories and the University of Leiden.

One of their discoveries has been that to keep the ripe plants in the dark before harvesting could increase their potency.SIMM’s growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for 72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same."

i do it , it works ( my opinion ).....besides dark is free !

do you have a side-by-side comparison of two plants? one that was kept on a regular light cycle and one that was put in the dark? i'd be interested in seeing some pics, if you did.

you can't just say "i tried it and it works". it may have "worked" without the extended dark cycle.

why would we need to get info anywhere then from a forum full of GROWERS?
