My wife's best friend lives in Hereford, in NW England. We have traveled there a few times. Her family owns an old farmhouse with a few acres. it is one of those 120 year old black and whites, with the giant single beam timbers in the lofted ceilings. We were there in April, a few years back and the English countryside looks green lush and gorgeous! The cairns you use to cross over fences, and the public domain law, are awesome.
You can hike the English countryside, passing through farms and wave at people as you go.
