every anti american law starts in California, sorry Cali people I'm sure there are lots of good Cali members here but Cali is out of control with the unconstitutional laws.

Many people will not give up their right to defend themselves. Things could get interesting.

its a possibility the lawmakers want things to get interesting, either way its a win win for them, assassinate all 2nd amendment citizens who refuse to kneel at the feet of a corrupt government ,or if its peacefull they have the beta test complete & will move to another city to implement the law.

It's only illegal because pot is illegal on a federal level. That is the fault of red states, not California. If ignorant rednecks hadn't been unerringly successful at keeping pot illegal on a federal level, we wouldn't be in this predicament. But keep blaming California, you ignorant product of a botched abortion.

While I disagree with taking people's guns nowhere In that report did they say they were taking guns away, just barring their sale to people with mmj cards.

In the eyes of the man in charge if you are a marijuana user at all and buy a gun then you just lied on a federal form and I think we all know what happens if you lie to the feds , oh unless that is you're you know who.

I agree that the law is stupid, but it isn't a law that California made. They just ruled that the CURRENT method of enforcement was legal because it falls under federal jurisdiction. If MJ were de-scheduled tomorrow, you would be able to buy guns in California as a medical patient tomorrow. They never made a law saying medical patients couldn't buy guns, there was already a law that said that people who use drugs that are federally illegal can't buy guns regardless of whether the state considers that drug illegal, they just ruled that the federal laws superseded state laws. Someone challenged the existing law and lost, it wasn't a new law being put in place.

Ah well I don't really disagree with taking people's guns away. They have proven they are not responsible enough to have them over and over and over. I'd be okay with letting people have bolt action rifles and shotguns (For hunting and home defense), but I see no valid reason to allow people to have pistols or assault rifles or anything else that could be quickly fired multiple times or be easily concealed. I think that SOME people are responsible enough to own them, but I think the majority are not and I am willing to make myself and others bear that sacrifice in the name of the greater good.

Brought to you by the liberal 9th Circuit Court in San Francisco. I've had just about all the government I can tolerate in one lifetime.

Agreed. You've just about had it with government.

But the problem isn't in California, it is in Washington DC where pot still has the same status as heroin. Once national legalization happens, we will see gun laws relax. It's the federal law that prevents gun ownership, not a law in Cali.

Although medical-marijuana use is legal in California, 24 other states and Washington, D.C., the federal government still bans all use of the drug, and in 1968 Congress prohibited illegal-drug users and addicts from buying and possessing firearms.

I'm not a gun owner but don't care if others own one or more. Pot should have nothing to do with gun ownership. Feds still think we are "illegal drug users".

A nodding out methadone patient can purchase a gun though. Someone on the verge of a blackout with a script for xanax can purchase a gun though.

Makes sense to me

Yep.

Which is even more ironic cuz the state's themselves by "allowing" medical marijuana, collecting fees and taxes etc. for a banned substance are violating federal edicts .

It's comical to watch the states and the feds sword fight with their Pinocchio noses.
