2023 was a bust. Spent alot of time getting everything moved and ready then I found I had spider mites.
Excited to get back into it!!

This is all coco coir drain to waste I just transplanted

I'll get to what plants what in a few days I still have to get everything sorted.

My focus is to get these rolling and start some indoor veggies with a good IPM regime. This summer I want to get away from coco coir and use my recycled coir combined with organics. I can't have soil in the house !! More details to come

Thanks alot man I'm pretty excited. Setting things up is taking a bit. Today I am working on setting up the watering system. I decided to add a union on my drain so I can swivel it to a 5 gallon bucket.

I'm pretty concerned the coco coir that runs off will clog my pump so I am considering adding a strainer basket or something on the drain. Also thinking of adding something like a wifi plug so I can remotely shut off my watering pump, when noted via a wifi water alarm

An overview of the plants. I will be committing at least the 6 females to this area and using the scrog screens. It's going to be hard to decide what else can be woven in considering I don't know if the other 6 are going to be male or female. I'll probably just do 8 or 9 in there and see what happens

An upward look at the chaos going on top of my tent. I have alot of work today. There are 3 triple slate qb's up there , a uva bar and a far red bar. I have two single bulb t5s as well to help with side lighting which I might throw some LEDs on to help with larf development
Here's what came out just flushing thru a few gallons of water. I might try using my pump sprayer to rinse off the bottoms of the plants or just dump the water manually for a bit until the roots hold the coco together better. The drain goes outside so I also fear freezing. I might not even end up using the condensate pump
5" media intake filter. I might redesign it so it is being pulled thru instead of pushed into. I have an active intake 6" pushing into it with an active exhaust 6" at the top. I need to sort it out and add carbon filters. I am using an 8" carbon filter with a 6x8 increaser at the end of the run to lower restriction and improve lifetime, but can't use the pre filter because I want to put it outside the room. I was thinking of lining the inside of the carbon filter with the prefilter material , idk.

Getting some indoor vegetables ready too because I thought it would be fun to max everything out. I might do these on a blumat system in coco coir, and just hand water to waste once every 3-4 days. It would be cool if I could use the runoff to feed these but I don't wanna have crappy tasting vegetables. I think it's going to be a fun side project, and plan on doing more in the summer in elevated SIPS in organic soil

Some house plants.. this time my IPM schedule will definitely include these. I wonder if that's where my mites keep coming from

So I went out to my worm bin which is in an un insulated area. My diy worm bin bucket froze and killed all my worms that are in there! I guess that's just all going to be worm food now. It wasn't established enough to keep up on temps.

I'm worried my other bin will freeze so I am going to add this nifty inkbird controller ITC-312 and a heat mat, and bubble wrap the worm tower. I looked in there and put in a soil thermometer and will see what it's at now. I think I'm going to wrap the heat mat around the bottom of the tower and see how that performs. It's been 25deg F to 50 deg F lately so I'm curious what the bin temps are now. The worms are looking good in there so they must have plenty of food
This heat/ ac controller is pretty sick I can't wait to try it out. I wonder if I could rig up the ac part to a vent fan in the summer in case the bin gets too hot

Worm bin was 46 when I went out there this morning
I added a strip of bubble wrap to insulate each tower then put a peice of bubble wrap on the base and slipped the heat mat in between the base and the bubble wrap. Then I did a full sheeth with a cap so I can still access and maintain the tower without ripping it apart. I have plans on adding a fan for the cooling side of the controller i just want to come up with a simple design first

I'll see in a few hours how quick the temp rises. It's been outside in sub freezing temperatures

Worm bin is being heated nicely it's gone up go 60 degrees (I moved the probe to the center which was 5 degrees higher than where I had it) so it's gone up about 10 degrees in a day, I'm sure the worms appreciate it!

On another note, I'd like to set up my autowatering today and perhaps drop my scrog screen down. I run 3 bubblers on my big "tent" and was thinking of dedicating 1 of them to the smaller plants. I've been running open flow but can add the restrictors if needed , I'd really like to have the watering timer running so I can start dialing in.

I want to get my small 2x4 tent running too then I will finish up setting up the fans and sealing light leaks. In my 2x2 tent I plan on running some micro vegetables which I have the coco coir ready for. I was thinking of using a bed style setup with blumats for that, and just doing a low feed with hand fed runoff to waste 1x or so a week.

I was gone for three days and didn't give them any water so it looks like I got a little but of deficiency there but all looks well and I'm mad excited!

So I decided to top everything
Sadly the BBHPs1 that I was looking forward didn't like the transplant from a week or two ago. It was leaning in the coco (I put the rootball all the way to the base of the pot on all of these to save clearance) and when I topped it and added the feeders to it I must have snapped whatever roots it had left. I put my humidifier blasting at it and it looks like it might pull through . I am going to drench the medium with tribus grow and hope because I really liked this strain! I only have 1 seed of it left

If you have a longer branch you can snip for a clone sometimes taking a clone will give you a second chance at saving your plant

ended up binning the BBHP s1 , I could have saved it by cloning but I'm going to be concluding indoor growing after this run. After this, it will be only outdoors unless I can figure out a new spot for a setup.

Found on my bluelab leap pH probe, I was having a hell of a time getting a reading. It was going from 3 up to 8 and back down constantly. I inspected the unit and where the wire goes into the top of the display was split. I was kind of upset about it so I went to order a replacement probe and it is 150$ (shipping included ) from bluelab or 130$ (shipping included ) from amazon. I found the solutions only probe so I ordered it, along with new calibration solutions.

After ordering it, i decided why not see if I can fix it. I carefully split the wire and the cord inlet to the meter (the thicker rubber part that is designed to reduce cord fatigue) . There was an outer braided shielding wire, which was not continuous, and a small split beneath that exposing the copper wire in the center. The copper wire looked ok so I electrical taped it. I then found a shielded wire leftover from a project on my pickup truck, and unwrapped the shielding from it. I wrapped it making contact to both sides of the shielding then went over that with tons of electrical tape. To my surprise it worked and recalibrated and now doesnt jump!! I wonder if the shielding was touching the inner copper wire.

Anyways, I plan on retiring the leap probe once my solutions probe comes in and only using it when needed for soil analysis. I plan on adding additional cord relief on the new probe (which was 70$ with shipping cost)

I have been troubled by the pH for a while and now i figured out why I was getting all these wacky readings. Going forward I identified 4 male plants which got axed-- I have only 2 bob bitchen strains left now. The fireball X fookies is definitely a female, and the honeybee is too young to tell. This allows me to configure my scrog screen now which has gotten out of hand, I'll add pics tomorrow. I've been dragging my feet pretty bad and this week I should be able to get around to getting things into order.

I'll add some pics once I make some real progress!

The green lids are a part of the automatic watering system I put together. I can give more details when I get some time on how I ended up setting it up if you want? The green lids have holes and ridges built in to help allow the watering rings to evenly distribute the water through the medium. It is basically a plate with holes that fills up a little but the ridges help because the pots are all slanted on top of the drainage table.

Check out the floraflex matrix system, they make a few different styles of watering systems. I got these and use the wicking mats beneath the green lids during the winter to help hold moisture in because I'm using the air pots

I appreciate it, BUT! I'm not somewhere I could set that up lol. but right on! Makes sense. I got the fabric pots, I assume your pots have holes on those nubs?

Yeah check them out they're called air pots, fabric pots work similar for air pruning the roots but the air pots are more reusable. They are a little costly but I like them and they unwind and stack together pretty neatly when you aren't using them

I have to give up this grow and turn my room into a nursery for my baby boy. Talked to my bro in law and he took my plants off my hands yesterday! What a relief, I didn't want to kill them half way through flower.

I did however neglect them quite a bit knowing I was probably cutting them down. This grow I learned if you have an abundant foliage the plant can drink plain water ( I fed plain water for about 3 weeks) and just cannabilize itself. I normally have to defoliate but it did that mostly itself I just had to pluck leaves.

The plants he grabbed were mostly 3thirteen-- rhubarb s1, monkey juice, apple bottom, and sour skippy. He also grabbed the bag of oranges runt I had going in my 2x4.

I'll be setting up my 2x4 tent in a new location and finishing two plants- Fookies which is xmas cookies x fireball, and honeybee. Both of these plants look great and after they harvest I'll be only growing outside (unless I can figure out a new solution.

So I took some pics of the 2x4 tent, which is filled out pretty nicely. The lights are two 4K quantum boards and one B spec by HLG. I am thinking of switching to the R specs that I had in the bigger area now that they're freed up, and putting some side lighting up.

The Fookies is super kushy smelling. I've always loved kush and it looks like it is going to be a bunch of small buds because of how I trained it (or lack of trained it)

The Honeybee is amazing smelling like grape, and I'm really looking forward to trying it!! I'm overall stoked to get a small harvest in before summer really starts, and it looks like I'm not super far away.

What would yall guess? I'm going to say about a month to go. I'm so damn excited!

Fookies had a lot of herm flowers but is probably due to me neglecting them. Being of kush lineage and how many seeds I've seen so far I'd say it was alot of sterile pollen.

I am actually curious what I might want to expect from these seeds they're probably all fem but not necessarily herm resistant. The Honeybee x fookies should be the most promising so I think I will run a few fookies s1(herm) and then a few fookies (herm pollen) x honeybee. Who knows it may be a good cross maybe not but nothing ventured nothing gained.

Overall I have smoked a little of the fookies and I love the kush smoke. I'm going to grow some fireballs at some point and keep growing kushes they have always been my favorites. Right now I'm drying in a koolatron modified for drying

I have alot of deficiencies despite all the negligence they both are really great. I can't wait to smoke test the Honeybee! Fookies was a very nice test smoke I can't wait to see what it comes out like
