Nitrogen, too much?

I'm writing this fictional book on a man growing some plants, and one of his plants is slacking on nitrogen. He went to his local hydroponic shop and picked up some nitrogen solution with the following NPK numbers, 15-0-0....I was thinkin is there such a thing as too much nitrogen? Or the more the better?

Yes there is a thing as too much N.


Early signs of too much nitrogen is leaf color. They turn VERY dark green, and often become "shiny". Should they continue to keep getting dosed with N, they'll just burn up and die.
