Nirvana's Papaya 400w MH grow.

Here is the future closet I have planned. this is looking from behind where the wall has been removed for viewing. Clones are in the very bottom with cfl's. Above that is vegging area with my 400w mh. To the left of those is the flowering section with a 400w hps. Coming from above is the 4" exhaust. In the vegging area floor there will be holes drilled in the plywood to allow air to flow from the cloning chamber below it which will have holes drilled in the floor allowing cool air from the basement up through. Above the flowering plants there is a seperate 4" exhaust to pull air up through the floor. Maybe you get what I mean. It should be fairly simple. i have all the materials just sitting around anyway.

As far as the plants, They are looking great. Fattening up nicely. The hindu kush are getting much better and love their new pots. I want to bring the ph down on my tap water so instead of spending money on hydro ph down solution I expiremented with vinegar in a gallon jug to see if I could bring it down from about 7.2 to 6.5. It worked fine. so next watering I'll mix up a batch with full nutes and some vinegar. There you go. Till next time.

Looks like a nice plan. What are you planning on doing to prevent light leaking from clone/veg to flower? On the same note, how will you have access to the clone/veg areas?

hey douche, nice looking design, i'm waiting on harvest to finish building mine.

how's your clones doing? mine are alive with no signs of roots.

The light leaks wont be an issue because the view is from the backside with the inside wall removed for viewing. The access into the veg and clone will be the side facing the flowering plants. It will most likely be a velcro sealed heavy duty fabric. Not sure on that part yet. As far as the clones kevin, RIP. They just didn't root for me. They were fine looking for a while but never grew roots and finally wilted and died. Next time will be better. I may leave some small buds on one papaya and reveg and use for a mother. who knows.

I've got to ask. Very nice plan on the surface. Are you designing it for stealth, convenience, functionality...... what? What will you do when your plants decide they have outgrown your well designed cabinet's footprint?

The design is mostly function with stealth being just having to close the closet door. As long as the kids stay out it should be fine. As far as the footprint of it and the plants outgrowing it, I have to just do it trial and error. I have to see how the flowering plants do with the space they have and adjust accordinglyy.

These are the new pics. Not too much longer now. I don't have a way to check trichs so I guess I'll have to play it by ear. The plants are using up the chlorophyl now at different rates. I noticed a couple tops are starting to stretch out now. I don't know what to take from that or what it means. The last pic is a close up of it. I put my hand behind one of the tops too scale it for you. How is it size wise? That plant has shorter tops on it but is nice and fat and greasy. The secondary buds lower down are a pretty good size though. How important is the strength of the light now towards the end? If I was to take them out from under the MH and put under cfl's would it fuck it up? I want to put all the hindus under a mh to grow nice and thick but my HPS isn't in yet. Should I move stuff around or leave it be? There you go. Thats all for now.

hey douche, don't change the light now. let these girls have all the light you have.
the size of them look right on time.
you won't need anything to look with, you'll be able to see the changes with the naked eye. i can see them anyway and i wear bifocals.

Bro, it looks like you have another two weeks to go at the least. You have tons of new bud growth right now (all the white pistils), you gotta bite the bullet and let them fill out.

You'll be so glad that you did.

As far as checking the trichomes, if you can't find a 30x+ scope, just find something around 8-10x. I use an 8x magnifier designed for looking at slides.

Good points fellers......

These are the new pics. Not too much longer now.
Quite a bit longer my friend. The plant ramps up the most amount of cannabanoids (THC) during the last 3 weeks before harvest.

I don't have a way to check trichs....
Iffy at best IMO. If you must, harvest when you see some of the trikes turning amber.

so I guess I'll have to play it by ear. The plants are using up the chlorophyl now at different rates.
That, or you're being naughty and depriving them of N via the use of Bloom Food, such foods usually blocking out N and micros due to too much P and/or K. I have seen more gardens compromised from the use of Bloom foods. I don't know why more folks don't read their plants and put down the labels.

I noticed a couple tops are starting to stretch out now.
You're not even done with the stretch. Rule of thumb for hybrids regarding the total speculative flowering time is - 60% for the stretch, 40% bulking up and maturing those cola buds. Harvest when the production of flowers comes to a crawl, 80% of the pistils have turned (gold or brown), new production of calyxes and white pistils comes to a crawl, and the calyxes swell nice and fat as if they are carrying seeds.

Watch for bananas (immature male flower parts). If you see any, it's the plant telling you it's time to chop. IOW, it want's to make babies really bad, in spite of what you do.

Leave the light be, just adjust so that it doesn't bleach out the chlorophyll. Remember, in nature cannabis receives MUCH more light during the veg cycle than flowering. Most folks tend to get that fact bass-ackwards. :D Why? Because they are trying (in vain) to "super-charge" their plants. Of course what happens 90% of the time is they fuck 'em up instead.

Good luck,
UB

Awesome grow man, I have been looking at papaya (mango) grows and your thread got me really pumped about the seeds I ordered.

Got 10 payapa and 10 ice seeds.

Planning on crossing them if I get males (which is probably inevitable)

Looking really good man, can't wait to see what these look like before you chop em.

I just got my new HTG 400w HPS light setup today. I rearranged the closet and now the papayas are under some nice yellow bright ass light. I wonder if it will make a difference now or if it is too late to matter. I killed all but one of the hindu kush seedlings with vinegar so now I have only one survivor under a 400w MH. I ordered another 10 pack of papayas from nirvana on friday so they should get here sometime. I am going to start 5 of them and save the others for backup. I want to get a mother plant and try some clones after this. I wonder if I can reveg one of the females I have now for a mother. Maybe i'll give it a try. Later

hell yeah it will do good to get your girls under that 400. nice score, did you get a vented hood? have you seen my harvest yet? this is some good smoke.

I didn't get the hood with a lens or hole for cooling. Just the reflector. I'll have to make a setup for it soon. For now I'll just open the closet door in the morning to keep it reasonable. The smell is starting to get pretty strong now. I can smell it all night long while I am in bed. I had to tie a string around one of the plants to hold the buds up and secure the other plants with wire stakes. The tops are getting heavy. I saw your pictures of your buds kevin. They look nice. How much do you think you will end up with? I have no clue what I'll get.

Yo DH; the foxtailing is usually because of nitrogen (also heat/too much light?). You should get a zero% bloom booster to finish her off. Still sweet though. The HPS will make it nice. Use the MH for veg and flower until they stop stretching (that's still veg) and switch over to the HPS when they start filling in.

Hey kev. I have been watching the girls and they are looking the same so I am at the point where there hasn't been any reason to really post pics. I will have some up this weekend. I did recieve my new papaya seeds and have 5 of them germing now. I got the seeds in 6 days. Thats including a sunday. I will try to clone off a female of that batch and make it a mother. Till next time.
