Nirvanas "ICE" 2nd try.

Hey guys this was my second try with the nirvana ICE seeds. First grow both plants were male. 2nd grow 2 out of four ended up being female.

Plant number one is at probably 5 weeks of flowering and is being flowered in a "spacebucket". It's under 4 9w Cree LEDs and 2 26w cfl.

plant number two is at 3 weeks of flowering and is under two 65w cfl and 2 26w cfl. It doesn't appear to be doing as well as the first plant. Buds are all much smaller and already has a lot of orange hairs. The plant went dry while I was at school one day and wilted so the stress may have stunted bud growth :(

let me know what you guys think.

looks pretty good bro...i like your veg style...i'll def stay tuned because Nirvana is my fav. seed bank and love to know how their strains come out. I'm currently doing Royal Queen Sour D and WOS Afghan Kush....ended up getting twins from the one afghan seed!
Your ice is suppose to be white as hell...so i'm def. soupped! Are you using the square LED's or a socket LED?

I started out with Nirvana, me and a partner, but strictly outdoors maybe 4 rotations of the sun ago. My favorite was always Papaya, love it. I remember bagging Jock, MasterK, WonderW, DairyQ, the El one, Ak auto.

Never did Ice though, looking awesome, especially with LEDs? Nice and lanky, have any photos of the setup?

Thanks for showin'. :peace:

Nice mate!! Like Abiqua said, would you be kind enough to show your setup? I'm curious cos the 1st lady seems stretched while the 2nd one is trained!!

Cheers!! Nice work!!

I have some Ice still growing.
Gotta 5 fem paq from nirvana, 3 outta 5 sprouted.
Lost 2 of the plants over the years.
The one that's left looks like yours all stemmy and tall.
You did a good job of tying it down.
Good smoke when it's finished.

Hey srry guys not trying to leave you hanging it's just finals week.

First plant. The one that is tall and lanky is being grown in a "spacebucket". It's pretty much and plastic container that you can stack. Most people are using 5 gallon buckets. I use plastic cat litter pails. The top bucket has sockets installed for lights and computer fans for exhaust. As the plants grows taller you just cut another bucket in half and stack it. You end up with an awesome little self contained weed growing tower that looks like a spaceship.

the second plant that is tied down is in the original dresser grow box that I built for my first grow. It was a completely different phenotype from the one in this bucket. I never topped it and it stayed very short and squat during veg with no training. As soon as I flipped over to flower it shot up and hit the roof of the dresser grow box so I have to creatively tie it down. All the branches and bud sites are tied low to one side so I can keep the lights close on them. The buds appear to be filling out more now than they were in my last post so I have hope for her yet.

out of the two methods I experimented with I definitely like the buckets. The Cree household lights are very effective when used in the bucket an there is zero problem with heat. My dresser grow box was plagued with heat problems that I was never able to get right unfortunately. For my next grow I will probably be building another bucket to grow hempy style, soilless grow. We will see what happens. I also intend to do a dual harvest this time, I will cut the tops from the tall plant and then keep flowering for a few more weeks to let lower bud sites improve.

More advice and comments are welcome.

nice work, love the ladies. on my first go and hoping for a girl out of the 3 i got going.
Yeah I was a newb when I ordered and didn't get feminized seeds which I should have for my grow. Only had room for two plants and both ended up male... I would have started with bag seed but I just started smoking so I had none.

nice. How were some of the other nirvana strains? I'm trying to decide what to order next whether to go with nirvana or something like pick and mix and get different types.

I was just reading through your grow the other day man. You killed it with the aurora indica and I was considering that for my next strain just because yours looked so good. How does the raspberry cough smoke? That one sounds good too.

the LEDs are Cree household socket LEDs from Home Depot. They work extremely well with the bulbs removed. There's actually a huge thread on nothing but using these bulbs for flowering and people were surpassing the yields of hps lighting with them. Do you have a link to your grow journal? I'd like to follow and interested to see how sour D turns out.

Hey!! Your first lady is looking good for its space!! Your second one though, I think it's the one who needs some improvement.

What I mean is, I noticed you have a tray pot similar to the size of the box.. You could get much more better results if you had the pot that fits just right in there!! It's not gonna be a space problem at all as I can see, there's plenty of that too!! Cheers mate, nice job!!

Yeah the size of the dresser isn't really the issue, it's the light. The idea was to have the lights on extendable arms so they could be moved to different points on the plants. The idea didn't work out as planned. It's nice to be able to move the arms but it actually reduces the useable vertical space by about half. The plant needed to be grown low and wide but it didn't turn out that way. It was also kind of flowered out of necessity. My mother in law is coming to visit so the grow needed to be finished before FebruaryFebruary

Thanks man. I wish I had more beans of that weed because damn she was a good smoke and an even better producer. This is my first go around with raspberry cough, so once she's done around February I'll definitely let you know how the smoke is.

Yeah I just finished my last test so I'm good to go now. What is your avatar pic supposed to be?
I was walking through my neighborhood park and saw this on the sign with information on the park itself. Turns out a few years ago someone went in a cut down a bunch of trees, so they posted a reward for the whereabouts of the persons who did it. There is a term for plant slaughter and it's called Arborcide, which I learned upon reading the sign lol.

Haha that's hilarious about the trees. Arborcide.. The strawberry cough sounds like an awesome strain too, it's another that I'm considering for my next run. Who wouldn't want weed that tasted like strawberries lol. It's a sativa dominant strain right? I'll be interested to see how much stretch you get. The cool thing about growing in buckets like I have going is that a tall sativa is not a problem either, you just stack more bucket lids as it grows!
