Nirvana random (prob the problem?)

OK, I rolled the dice on this Nirvana Random seed.... Just for shits and gigs (my 3rd plant), the leaves are so skinny, it's crazy stretched, and I don't know if I should dump it or not. It was started from seed on 3/1/16 and switched to 12/12 on 4/10/16. Soil grow in it's own cabinet 300w CFL. Gets a little hot, maybe too much heat and light?

Is this even a problem or just bad genetics? Would you keep it, seems like it's got many many weeks to go...

Your CFL need to be closer to all your bud sites if you want it to fill out properly, also it's not bad genetics it just looks like a pure sati a strain to me since the skinny leaves.
The nodes are quite spaced out yes but this is most likely due to the fact your growing a topped plant with only one point of light.
If you wish to grow supreme plants with cfls you would need ALL your bud sites to be more or less under a globe each because they have poor penetration.
This is the reason you should practice or learn how to control your canopy when you top/fim as you can see simply plucking and hoping doesn't work.

WHOA! Your pictures of the infamous "Not Buds" confirms that I'm not the only one struggling with Nirvana!!
I was just searching this forum for anyone with a similar issue as mine and I didn't even use the "nirvana" keyword but that is the same strain I had trouble with recently.
I was given a 4-pack of seeds just titled "nirvana" not "nirvana special" or anything and they were all female but they all grew very strange in comparison to all my other strains.
I've been using really good LED floodlights with the proper kelvin and warm/cool temp, feeding them all a good, plant-based nutrient schedule, taking breaks often, but always using cal-mag.
Each of my Nirvana plants' leaves were extremely thing and curly, compared to all the others. After several months in bloom, I noticed that instead of normal flowers, the huge colas were just producing these weird bud-like structures, with hairs and white calyxes protruding, but absolutely no bud clusters or obvious trichomes.
They are NOT males either. However I did suffer a bout of spider-mites, which did a number on a lot of my yield but I've since fought them back with neem, takedown, ladybugs, and predator mites.
I think maybe the strain/package could be a joke or a slip-up from some grower? I attached pics of the plant once I gave up and removed her from my 5x5x8' bloom tent - as she was starting to smell like hay and several of her classmates had already gone on ahead to yield while she stayed producing...nothing?
The photos show some formerly-bitten leaves and dried stalks because I stopped caring for her once I brought her outside.
Namely, I want someone to look at the size of these colas and how they have no buds - WTF?

I agree that their lights may be a bit far away in one of the shots (perhaps it was just for the photo) but the leaves are indeed MUCH skinnier and curlier than any of the other sativa strains I have grown, and I have the same problem. I suspect its bad genetics and would warn people about "nirvana"-related strains for seed buys..

If i had to guess, because it's a sativa and extra sensitive to feeds, that it's likely over fed! They both also show excess nitrogen, which would explain the no-flowering. I had it happen twice when i ran sativa dominant plants, and the excess food killed my production as well! The excess p and k left my leaves completely skinny, like strings, and the excess N gave it that dark cupping under/claw tip, especially closer to the top. Was my biggest auto's ever by far..stems were trunks!..and i trashed them as after 8 weeks, the flowers were virtually non existent..mine was barny's farm.

It's a possibility..the pics remind me of those 3 plants (2 strains) that i did last year i think and was also astonished at how big they were and all 3 had tiny, slow producing buds..after 4 weeks of flowering (auto should have been done within 2 weeks), the 3 i had looked the same 4 weeks into flowering as at the start lol. I fed it at 500 ppm of gh micro/bloom and it was enough to fuck it all up! That's when i learnt about sativas and they don't behave like indicas with feeding lol. The excess nitrogen is the biggest enemy i have experienced with them, as that stops all flower production. Im doing a tomato plant indoors for the first time in a container, same issue in ways..too much nitrogen..the plant is 5 feet tall and almost 7 feet wide lol..tomato production is slow! My nasturtium flowers this year..1st time as well with those..is growing a huge bush of leaves that i chopped 3 times already in 2 months..i only got 1 flower on it! lol They don't want any food, nm excess nitrogen. That's my story on too much nitrogen during flowering

ha! I'll def look out for nitrogen overload! but it's strange because the rest of my plants are sativa or hybrid (often sativa-leaning) except for my Peppermint Kush, and they all behaved normally. It was as if this one strain also couldn't get watered enough because as @Reesee mentioned above, the leaves were not just thin and curly, but also a bit dry.
I have had enormous success with the same nutrient cycles for my: Cindy'99, Cherry Kush, Blurberry, and Kilimanjaro Kush but have literally given up on this particular strain or seeds I acquired.

I hear ya..mine were the same..papery leaves, dry, huge plant but wasnt drinking much at all..never had that happen before or since..but the fact it happened to 2 different strains, and all 3 plants, i did see the nitrogen toxicity into flower, and then it happened on another grow after, but not as bad, now it never happens anymore as i only give nitrogen once i see a slight paling at the bottom, and virtually eliminate it just passed mid flower usually.
