Nine x Stardawg fem + three freebees fem (my first led grow)

Howdy folks,

My buddy made a led-lamp for me according to member WIetefras his calculations. I've wanting to switch for quite a while but i couldn't afford it until now.
So, here we go!
The medium of choice is soil. It is universal quality soil from a dutch garden center. Since they shut down all grow-shops in my environment i could not get light-mix.
The strain of choice is Stardawg. Here's an excerpt of the subscription:

'Although the lineage suggests it is more indica and so you would expect this to be a couch-lock inducing super stone, that is not the case. The appearance, effects and aroma of this variety definitely leans towards Sativa dominance. Highly energising and euphoric the cerebral high that this strain gives is nothing short of a joy. The parents of Stardawg are the Original Chemdog#4 crossed with Tres Dawg (which itself is a Chemdawg x Afghani cross), meaning that it has refined and concentrated all of the best aspects of the line into one beautifully punchy package. THC Levels are regularly tested in excess of 22%, but 19-20% would be the normal range for most growers.'

Like usual it sounds too good to be true. So here's a picture.

Naturally pictures taken without the presence of the buyer are always open to skepticism. Frankly i rather had clones, but i don't at the moment so female seeds it is.

Last week i put the seeds into a glass of water for a minute and then into 4 x 4 cm rock-wool cubes. Nine of out of ten Stardawgs germinated and all three freebees within four days. Then i lit up the led and that is where we're at now.

The lamp is 780 watts i believe and 1800 umol. The strips are the latest from Samsung that Wietefras advises. Forgot to take a picture of the babies.... The most important part of the whole grow...

See you later!

A week later this is how they look.

So far i haven't watered the seedlings since i planted them. The tensiometer read 110 mbar meaning they won't get any water yet. I'll let it run up some more. The day before yesterday my buddy cranked up the dimmer a little bit so the lamp is now the equivalent of a 1000 watts hps like i wanted .

And that's all the news!

Yesterday I watered the plants severe. This time by holding the pots with the bottom into the water (pH 5.5 and Ec 1.3) until the medium was fully saturated. And this is how the plants look today.

The plant in the middle right looks a little awkward.

Never seen this before, at least not to my recollection. Than again, i never seen a ufo in my grow-room neither, but does that prove anything?

I topped the nine Stardawgs and three freebees and made cuts from them.

And after that i switched the clock in the grow-room today to 12/12 on the 16th of July.

The fifth day of flowering.

Even just a day after defoliating the plants are still leafy.

The different phenotypes all have different drinking needs, so i am lifting up the pots and only water those that need it.

I raised the light a little to cause some stretch.

The ninth day of flowering.

Today i watered the plants and divided about twenty five liters over all twelve of them , pH minus powder pH 4.8 (a bit too low but it runs op anyway) GHE Biosevia Ec 1.3 and a cap of Biobizz fishmix.

And after a refreshing drink:

The plants are finally starting to look like i want them to! In retrospective i would not have hung the led so close to the seedlings from the get go. With hps it works fine to go full power soon as they show their faces, but when dealing with led it is a bit too harsh. But no biggie. The plants grew over their troubled youth and came out stronger!

Here are some pictures of the babies.

Its not important now, but once they hit vegetative status, make sure you get run off from every watering. Ive seen a lot of grows go bad, because people didn't have enough or any run off from feedings. Salts builds up slowly and you'll eventually burn or kill your plants. With 5 gallon containers, I found 1 liter of run off keeps them fairly free of buildup

The 18th day of flowering.

We're not even into the fourth week of 12/12 and i have to water daily! Don't know if it's the strain, the led or the warmth of summer but i never had to water daily before. Don't get me wrong, no complaints from my end!

On the following picture you can already see them yellowing ou t a bit from thirst. Specially the one to the left in the middle.

No problem, those leaves will be gone soon after defoliation anyway. And to keep them from yellowing out further i'll increase the Ec a little next watering. That's the convenience of growing mineral.

In the back you can see them dying of thirst. These ladies are binge drinkers and they binge drank right after the pictures on my treat! But no alcohol, they ain't eighteen!

Bye bye!

The 21st day of flowering.

Here's how the plants look a day after defoliation. I only left the lower leaves and removed nearly every leave that had a stem.

I see that i missed a couple, but i'll remove them later.

The 26th day of flowering.

The plants have fully recovered from defoliation and grew lots of new leafs. Not as thick and many as previous naturally, cause otherwise defoliating would have been totally useless.

The 33th day of flowering.

A friend of mine asked me where the update is, so the pictures are a tad bit rushed.

I said it before and i'll say it again: these plants are freaking binge drinkers!

The fortieth day of flowering.

I used white balance to cut out the led light. Makes the pictures look better i think. The three freebees in the back will most likely take longer to finish then the nine Stardawgs.
