Night Temps for Seedlings?

for healthy plants you need healthy roots. Roots aren't as tolerant of cold as the tops. My guru says 70 f is ideal.

Well I have them in pots so at night I bring them inside. For the first 3 weeks I had them outside and would bring them in and put them under CFLs but now I just bring them inside at night. Now it just ends up being 12/12 from seed.

growth stops somewhere in the lows 60s and itll turn into more of a defensive stage, but ive had plants outside in about 38 degrees and theyre still growing. watch those nodes close when your vegging in 12/12, id say around the 3rd node move it back into 18/6 or id prefer 24/0. if you wanna see gender wait a little longer but keep your eye on the developing branches and make sure it doesn't phase into flower too early, it gets hard to make it go back into veg the longer you let the preflowers mature.

i was doing that with my plants at first. putting them outside then bringing them in at night to avoid any cold temperature. it ends up just stressing the plant and stunting growth, well it did for me.

if the temperature of your grow room varies i could see the change effecting them, but it depends how big the temp change is. i have a room that ive been using for years thats sort of ventilated but isn't temperature controlled, and i move plants in and out day to day. whenever they gets some sun the leaves always perk up and they grow a few centimeters, but when i move them in at night the temperature is only about 10 degrees higher than outside and i havent ever seen any stress. indica seedlings will like more arid environments and sativea seedlings grow well in a little bit of humidity, and in nature they like to veg in mid summer in about 68-76(not being exact, but id expect the best results around those numbers) degree weather.

so u dont think it would be bad to give the plants direct sunlight for half the day then put em in the grow room the rest? cuz thats something i wanted to originally do but thought it would overstress the plant

not if those plants have been out in the sun before and theyre not moved to very different temperature ranges(it might stunt them for a little if you move them between maybe a 20 or 30 degree change but it will easily get used to it new conditions). if your concerned theyre gonna get burned put them in the shade so theyre not in direct sunlight. i do this with clones when i want to get them used to growing outside and it helps them get used to the sun stress free and it only needs to be in the shade for one day. and put them out as much as possible, beneficial bacteria is always blowing in the wind and its good for plants to be around other plants while a grow room may limit them to only harmful microorganisams. photosynthesis under cfls is also nowhere near as efficient as the rays from the sun and no matter how hard we try we can never buy a light as powerful as the sun. .

sounds good ... what u think about window sill for the majority of the day then moving to grow room. the side of my place that gets all the sun is my front door so i cant just let them chill on my porch or my nosey neighbors would trip so i was doing window sill for a minute

yeah it would work fine if the suns hitting them, but really prefer just finding a bush in my back yard and i trim them so the bushes hold pots perfectly and they'll get a good 9 hours of direct sun if the positions right(i have one big ass tree that blocks out the suns at about 6 oclock). theres also lady bugs, marigolds and plenty of other things nonbeneficial bugs hate and stay away from. i also have bees and ive heard when they cross pollinate with surrounding flowers the taste or potency is increased, but then again you can never really know unless you had a completely controlled experiment. make sure you know which way the sun rises and sets and make sure its getting as much light as possible and no shadows are blocking it out.
