NFT -when to change to flower nutes. Veg nutes at EC 2.0 day 6

I'm using NFT and want to change the tank for flower nutes on day 6 of 12:12. The EC is really high at 2.0 and they look a bit blue.

When do u change veg for flower?

After switching to 12/12 they still continue to veg for a few weeks so I normally don't start using flower nutes around week 3 depending on how fast they show sex.

I'm saying 'normally' because I'm using H&G nutes now which makes it a nonissue (as base nutes are the same for veg and bloom). What are you using for nutes?

Regardless, I would just add some water to lower that EC (to 1.6-1.8 ), or refresh the tank with veg nutes, and wait at least another week before starting with flower nutes.

I switched to aqua Flores yesterday and they looked instantly better. I lowered the EC to 1.7 and today I've gone up to EC 1.9 even though it's only day 7 of 12:12. The blue hues have died down and the yellowing of the new growth had greened up.

I was expecting 10-14 days on aqua veg but hydro is so fast.

I am using Canna and I'm in their suggested EC range but in full flower their table goes to 2.4 only!!!

Big Buddha cheese, OG Kush and critical jack are all fast plants.

Sounds like you made the right decision. A quick peak at a Canna aqua chart suggests as well to start with flores when "growth stagnates and pistils appear" so should be easy enough to tell from looking at the plants.

but in full flower their table goes to 2.4 only!!!
I was about to ask "only??" but I see that's total EC even... not just base nutes :-o If this is your first hp run I suggest googling RIU or this forum in particular for 'safe ppm charts' and check what other Canna users do.

Still waiting for pictures though...

'before and after' pics of pulling your hair out I mean ;)

I had to feed them up again today!! Now at EC 2.1 on day 9 of 12:12. I've got clones and seeds in. I reckon these girls can take more than 2.4 but I'll PK them 0.3-0.5 first, but not yet!! Pics later!

I don't trust the Canna chart as if I'd stuck to it I'd be on veg nutes at a lower EC with PK def. I'm just reading them from now on. I'm making notes and keeping log of EC.

That's the way the go regardless :D The rest (charts from nutes or other growers) are merely guidelines as it differs per strain and setup. Reading, logging, and adjusting accordingly is part of the fun of hydro.

Just curious, what's the EC of tap water in Spain / your area?

I'm quite lucky as mine ranges from 0.4-0.45. I have a RO machine if I want it softer but with 100 L tanks it isn't practical. Some areas are 0.7!!!!

I would consider that a bit high. Why would a 100l tank preclude the use of ro? Just connect the ro to seperate reservoir with a auto fill valve.

I'd suggest switching to flower nutes around week2 (maybe week3 depending on the strain your working with)..
Wow EC @t 2.0? I usually got burnt leaf tips around 1.5/1.8 EC, must be a resilient strain you got there..
