NextLight Grow - Northern Lights by Canuk Seeds

What’s up guys,

Started these Northern Lights just over 3 weeks ago from seed. They all look like they’re doing great so far. They’re sitting in a Gorilla 2’x2.5’ tent under the new NextLight Core. Very impressed with this light so far.

Two are in 3 gallon fabric pots, one in a 5 gallon fabric pot. It’s going to get tight in there, I only planned on keeping two.

Topped them and gave them a very, very light first feed yesterday. Nutrients are/will be Green Planets full line. Dual Fuel 1/2, Vitathrive, Massive, Liquid W8.

Plan on growing these for another 2-3 weeks and flip.

Looks great. I finished 3 grows from that breeder/strain combo. 1 from seed, then 2 from clone. I did 1 under a Scrog, and 2 using lst/hst. The Scrog didn’t help me much because the plants grew like tight little bushes and wouldn’t stretch enough to spread out under the net. I wouldn’t top those lower branches, just pinch off suckers so the shoots will keep up with the canopy height.image.jpg

Oh nice, how did you like the smoke on this grow? It looks like I have a couple different pheno’s. One has fatter, more rounded tipped leaves.

Removed a couple leaves today to hopefully help the lower shoots catch up. Not doing any more topping/defoliation until I flip to flower. At that point I’ll remove anything that doesn’t reach the net.

IIRC, the fatter rounder leaf pheno's tended to be the shorter, stalkier, less stretchy plant. The buds were still great, just that they were crowding themselves. They all cloned pretty easy as well. One thing to note is that my third gen from the mother plants hermied very late in flower. Too late to start any seeds fortunately, but it happened at the same time in two separate enviroments. The smoke is smooth, as far as Indica dominant plants go. Fast acting, not too couch lockey, but very relaxing. It dulls my cognitive functions a bit more than I prefer. It gives me a, "What was I just talking about?" sort of effect. Cant argue with those little golf ball nugs though.

Plants are coming along well. I’m a little worried because the one I have already started to tuck, others are a good 1-2 weeks behind.

This smaller one I removed some fans because it is growing super dense. May end up passing that one along to a buddy. Looks like the other two will fill the net anyways.

Hoping to flip soon. I’ve never used pots this small before, not looking to run into any issues.

What’s your relative humidity? My guess is it’s on the high side. Those leaves look like they are full of water and want to transpire but can’t. I would flip to 12/12 soon. With the amount of space and light you have, there is not much benefit in waiting much more. This strain will add 1/3 in size during a quick stretch period, which should fill up your space.

RH is quite low, normally 30%-35% but right now in the 20’s. Going to flip shortly, just a little confused on this one girl. Would love for it to perk up a little before 12/12

The tuck on the other is coming along nicely.

I’m thinking it might be too much light? I just raised my light from 18”-24” yesterday and things look better. I may even try running it around 28”-30” and see what happens.

Thread didn’t seem to have much interest so I haven’t been posting updates.

Approaching harvest time now though, tomorrow marks 6 weeks since 12/12. Buds are coming along great.

First grow under this light and I have been super impressed, thinking about picking up another.

I'm following dude. Not trying to jack your thread but, if you are planning on picking up other Canuck seeds, I would personally recommend CBdurban. Its touted as a low THC high CBD strain, but it does not act the way most people would assume such a combo would. I get a nice clear head high and relaxed body with a minor couch lock effect that is easily shakable. It is a 10 week strain though, so not great if you need a fast turn around.

Thanks iGrow, I’ll check it out.

I’ve been thinking of growing out a CBD strain for my mother who has been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. She’s not a smoker but has been suffering and looking at different CBD options.

Day 50 today. Canuk calls this strain 49 days. I’m thinking I’ll leave it for another 7 to 10 days. What do you guys think?

Definetely getting close. I have no problem leaving it as long as it takes. Smell is starting to outgrow this 4” Fan/Filter, can smell the plants from outside the tent.

I guess I’m a bit late... I did my harvests at 8 and 8 1/2 weeks. I would have liked to have a report on how a week 7 harvest turned out.
