Newly sprouted plant question

I have a couple sprouts right now that are literally just a quarter inch above the soil. When should I expect the seeds to fall off of them? Also, what color shade should they be right now?

I left mine alone. The seed shell fell off within a few days of sprouting out of the soil. Mine looked light green with some brown when they popped out of the soil. It may have been some soil on it or something on them to make them look brownish in areas. Now they are 2 - 4 days old. and are a nice green color. I have a picture of them on the last page of my grow journal.
