Yea leggo, you were told right. Any color light is better than no light at all. I know experienced growers who flower with MH instead of HPS. The bluer light produces less yield than a yellow one, but they swear it increases potency. Definitely better than nothing either way. And it's normal for your leaves to orient themselves to the light at the bottom. Might look a little weird I suppose but leaves have light sensing cells that interact with their structure cells (the ones that hold leaves and branches upright) in order to expose the greatest amount of leaf surface to the light.
Nice journal leggo! Been following it for a while now. Have you noticed alot of seeded calyxes or were your hermies sterile? Also, if you haven't settled on a strain for your next grow yet, I would like to suggest a white strain (widow, rhino, etc.). The AK is good and fast finishing but I have found the white strains to be more potent, better yielding, and they don't get so tall and leggy. If you don't mind non-feminised seeds, sadhu from Mandala seeds has a smell that is sooo sweet I would be disappointed if I got a one day atheist's pass to heaven and it didn't smell like a great big sadhu bud!

Next grow I was really wanting to do Strawberry Cough, but I think I may use a couple more seeds of this AK, perfect my craft a little before I spend money, and all the hassle buying online, credit cards, addresses, etc....

Day 47 of Flower:
Not really a whole bunch to talk about... above is just a a aerial pic of the lower buds/branches... little 'popcorn' bud if you will.
About a week until the 'window of harvest' is open... AK-47s take between 53-63 days... but it will at least be two more weeks I think. Most of the hairs are still white.
I will probably flush in about a week, right now I'm just letting my res run dry of nutes, and may add a little Flora Bloom every once and awhile.
I think the girls are starting to get another growth spurt!! I stopped misting the girls to keep humidity down (not that it really needs it, my house in the winter is DRY)... but I decided to start up again, so I could get some nutes sprayed directly onto the buds... I think it HELPS!
Though, the spurt could just be because its time for more growth, nearing the end?
QUESTION:
Should I cut lower branches (with LITTLE buds) completly off?? Would this allow for more light and allow for more 'growing' energy spent on the upper buds??? Kinda of like "lollipopping" I guess :-/
Thats really about it, I hope for some nice fatty buds come harvest

Yes, cut off all the little bud sites, branches and what ever you dont think has a chance. Mold is the devil and with bushy plants its common on the inner growth. I lst so the whole plant competes, then I remove whatever wont.QUESTION:

I remove ones that are this size and smaller, with experience youll know which will provide a good bud and which wont. I dont use mine for hash, not enough trichomes at this point to make good hash.

Day 48 of Flower:
Did a lot of trimming today based off advice from yesterday. Took lots of the little branches/micro buds off so I the girls can spend energy with the bigger buds
And, maybe open some more light up :-/ Decided to save some of the little buds, trimmed them, gonna let them dry up and see what I get, I'm sure nothing major since they were pre-mature, but might try a blunt with them for shits and giggles.
Got a loupe today! But really not strong enough, all I could find was a 10x... didnt try RadioShack yet, may do a return and go by the Shack tomorrow... Though I could get a a semi-good look with the 10x... I'd say no/nill amber, mainly clear turning cloudy I'd say....
About 50% of my pistils are/have turned orange/brown (most of the Colas are still white).... I was gonna flush at 40%... but decided to keep the nutes in there a bit more, in hopes of fat buds :-/

I may just use some more seeds that I got these from... have a few left.
I always have this one seed that was from bag... the bud was 'ok' (dry, compressed, eh...) but it has a great smell under all that!! So maybe i can get some of that good bud... who knows.

Day 49 of Flower:
Nothing much to report... this is a pic of my 'micro buds' I chopped off yesterday from the bottom branches I cleared away... drying out nicely (not using a quick dry method) but still smell a little green... but nice!
smoke report soon. you know when I do.

Nice bro looking foraward to the smoke report man... I actually kept the 3 young poison tops to smoke even tho they were 2-3 weeks early I still cant smoke more than 3 bowls and not get twisted bro..Let us know how it is..
