So what is everyones pet peeves on here? Personally I am finding myself getting really frustrated with the sheer number of atrociously spelled posts / questions.

How come it seems like 8 out of 10 newbies on here write so poorly and can't take the few seconds to see that their post is underlined in red almost everywhere before posting.

Instead of using S they use z everywhere, I honestly don't even answer such poorly spelled threads anymore. Good newbies hammer the Faq and then ask specific questions and are quickly very knowledgeable. Half of these people can't spell, and wonder why their seedling is stretched to crap under a CFL...

Sorry just needed to rant, I am a newbie also but I really view this as underlying problem affecting mostly our young. MSN and the internet are great as long as you respect our language still and don't dumb yourself down in the process of using them.

I hate the spelling thing too...

My biggest peeve is when they're like, "I'm new here and I'm wondering if someone can tell me what soil and lights to use and walk me through the whole thing, oh and also where can i buy seeds from"

Blehhh...

I think a lot of this is the age, not that they can't spell.
I have seen this spelling many times in my house. It is my teenager. I know he is capable of spelling, I believe it to be a teen thing.

To be honest i think that way of thinking is a bit retarded... i would hope that a growing site would show a bit more respect to someone who wishes to start growing their own weed and help them with it.... and if not, don't bother reading their post and replying with some smart ass comment.

Same thing with me. But when I first joined here over a year ago I have to admit I asked some really dumb questions. I still havent even gotten to growing again because I got kicked out of my apartment a while back, moved back with my mom, and I havent been able to get another apartment or a place to stay yet.

The thing that annoys me is all the little kids that come on here. They have no idea what they are doing and chances are if they even get that far and do decide to grow in the same house with their mom and dad or whatever, there is a 95% chance that they will get caught growing it. It would save us and them all a lot of time and grief if they would just wait until they are over 18, learn more about it, and get their own place.

probably because of txting, most people txting are doing it in a place they shouldn't be (driving,in a class, swimming, fishing, taking a shower, etc.) so they shorten words to make the process faster.

Yeah it seems that there is alot of them here lately. It should be mandatory for people to read the growfaq before joining, or atleast some of it.

I'm COMPLETELY up for helping someone... But I'm not gonna grow your weed for you, ya know? All I'm saying is do a little bit of reading before you start asking questions and expecting people to walk you through growing step by step. People have spent countless hours writing the FAQ's on here, making their grow journals, etc., etc., and people just ignore them and post questions that have already been answered many many times.

I'm pretty noobish, I've read the FAQ's, but I still ask kinda dumb questions as well, but only after I can't find the answer anywhere else. Even then though, I ask alot of questions and give off the vibe I want you guys to walk me through growing. I've been doing my best to stop since the best way of learning something is actually doing it yourself. But it's also ok to ask a question here or there obviously.

with the whole intentional mis-spelling thing, that annoys me more than anything anywhere. Most of the time it's just random gibberish that doesn't have ANY sort of proper grammar to it. Most of the time I'm just guessing. People only write like that though, because it's easier. I remember back in the day I would write "cool" as "kool" and "what" as "wut" and all those other things. I'd rather see/write a stupid question in good grammar than a good question in bad grammar.

The fact is this site attracts young men. Young men don't put a premium on such things a spelling, grammar, and concise verbiage. The texting phenomenon is a prime suspect as a previous poster suggested.

I get infuriated when I see a new thread on a question easily addressed in the FAQ.

I get get further infuriated at the bad advice I see here all the time from weed barons who have never seen a harvest, but know all about growing. Just ask them.

I normally write almost as bad as they do but now Im trying to be more sophisticated and taken seriously so I write almost all my words and spell em out on here and everything. When Im not thinking about it or dont care I write pretty shitty though.

Still Im really new when it comes to all of this stuff. I mean, I have never grown ANYTHING in my life. No kind of plants or anything so you should understand that its kind of hard when you know that little. Also, to me it seemed kind of hard to find a list of everything you need no matter where I looked.

what if you(generalizing all women not just you...) were some 15 year old looking for older men, then us guys would be in trouble... 25+please 18 year olds still live at home these days, risking their parents without a care=stupid. I was told by a teacher once, "there are no stupid questions...but you're stupid if you believe me". Lesson learned there are stupid questions.

When I disappeared from the site a few months back summer was here and there was a new thread every hour on almost every forum on RIU asking about "heat sensing choppers". You obviously have a computer google it, if not join the already started thread and stop being an attention hog.....

glad i vented
