I recently started a few germinated seeds in small rockwool cubes. Pineapple Express from G13 labs actually, anyway they sprouted in a day, which is great. But I've got these little sprouts up and their taproots hanging down out of the cube already.

Is this normal? Do I just need mist the bottoms of the cubes or semi-flood the propagation tray to keep them wet?

I know that exposed to air and light is bad and I'm nervous, I'm partial to clones but wanted specific genetics and now I have these sensitive baby sensi girls and I could be ruining their whole lives RIGHT NOW!!! AHHH!! Help asap.

Oh I forgot a couple obvious options:

Plants the cubes in their soil containers.
or
Remove the seedling and plant without the rock wool. ( I like this so that I don't get moldy rock wool later on.)

What do you guys think?
I have not had taproots come out the bottom of cubes the same day a sprout comes up, I'm not quite sure what best option is. I have gut feelings but I want to know what your's would be.

This just happened this morning btw.

Thanks Rollitup.

Why start in rockwool if you plan to move to soil? I'd probably just transplant the cube into soil but, to be honest, i've never worked with rockwool. I'd be concerned about damaging root hairs if i removed the cube.

thunder, just some advice..

next time, before you go buying or retrieving seeds.. make sure you know what the heck your doing.

I mean, if your seeing roots out the bottom of the cubes.. this means that the plants are 'root bound'. Which, in lamen terms, means that the plants root system is starting to really develop. It would be wise to go ahead and transfer them to bigger pots.

Anyhow, other than that.. I'm not going to help you. You need to do your own research and own reading of material.. otherwise you won't ever learn how to do it without someone walking you through it each and every time you decide to grow.

Just trying to help..

best of luck.

peace.

Hey man I can understand what it is like to be a noob...I am one as well :eyesmoke:...but I am a medical patient here in Michigan, so I was forced into learning fast because we don't have dispensaries here.. I would suggest puting them in the soil asap. You don't want those roots to be exposed like that. I started my nirvana seeds that I am growing right now in peat pellets. This is really kinda the same idea as rockwool...but these are more designed for soil or soil-less mixes lie I'm using. Rockwool is used more for Hydroponics. I got the Hydrofarm jumpstarter kit at my local hydro shop. It came with 36 peat pellets, the tray with a dome. I also purchased the Hydrofarm heat mat. It really does make a world of difference. Anyways if you want to check out my set up and grow here is the link.

**Leave them in the rockwool.....and plant them in at least one gallon pots asap! What type of soil and nutes are you using? Lighting?

Here are my plants at two weeks old

i'd transplant and leave a while then when they are bigger, break off block around the base of plant. next time crack them in wet paper towel in ziplocks, then just plant them in soil, taproot down seed up.. pretty easy, works almost every time...
