newbie. water level help!!

how far should i keep the roots under water, how long?. i am just getting into the hydro methods and i dont know what to do as far as running the times for my pump and how much water to keep in there for how long any help or links are appreciated!. HppyGrwn

i dont have a setup yet, was thinking of making my own. didnt know if i was going to go with a spray system, drip, buble...didnt know what was the best, looking for a good setup to make, cant find that good of plans tho

i want a setup thats going to help me maintain small bushy plants, i have very very limited grow space and soil doesnt cut it for me anymore.
