i have rockwool cubes in a tray with a plastic humidity dome over it, and im bout to germ some poison afghan seeds, i was going to soak the cubes in ph'd water with foxfarm bigbloom, then i was just going to put the seeds in the cubes and let them set till they sprout up, do you guys think this is a good method, or anything i can do to better it?

I just got a thought:
If I put an incendescent light bulb and some tinfoil in my small grow area will that make it warmer? because its kind of cold where I am and I heard it should be prety warm to germinate seeds.
Incandescents aren't even worth the electric it uses to run it. If you're worried about the cold, get yourself a cheap heating pad.

If you are really that worried about germination. Follow the paper towel method, then when the seed sprouts, you will know if its viable or not. Ive just had one white widow seed crack open, with the root just coming out after 36 hours.

No... Roots are white, plant it in soil with the root on the bottom. So the root can dig down into the soil.

yeah i wouldnt leave the seed in a cup full of water. i usually layer wet paper towels at the bottom of a tupaware, place the seeds in, place another layer of wet paper towels. leave in a dark, semi-humid environment.

I germed 15 white widow in a glass of distilled water for 48 hours and they all cracked and produced a taproot. i had to tap them after about 12 hours to get them to sink. I have them transferred them into rockwool now. some have sprouted. still waitng on the rest.

I put two in a cup of water and 2 in a wet paper towel in a bag, I then combined both of them into the cup. the one that floated is doin about 2x better than the ones that sunk but im not sure why. 3 out of the 4 seeds have sprouted after 6 days, how long can i leave them in there before they start to need sunlight and soil?

I am pretty new to this too, but I have read you should soak the cubes in the Ph'd water for around 24 hours but Do NOT use any nutrients yet. Mine have four defintite leaves (not including the seed leaves) and have just started giving them nutes. Just a little 1/4 strength nute mix.

About the Bigbloom? If this an a fertilizer used for blooming? if so, it will not be needed until the the plants go into the flowering stage of growth. You'll need a nutrient for the vegetative state first. I actually use one formulated for seedlings too.

From what little i have seen, as soon as they crack and begin to shoot a taproot, you should transfer them into what ever media you are going to plant in. Place the root down. Do not over water them tho. The media just needs to be moist. Not soaking wet all them time.

Its ok if the media is soaked when you transplant them, but do not continue soaking it.

I am new to this too so something that i say may not be 100 percent accurate. I am just relaying what I have seen in movies, article, and other posts. This is what has worked for me. So far..

hey noob! All you gotta do to germinate is stick it in her (half way or less) and wait until the white stuff comes out...Then wait nine months or so to see if she was germinated or not.
