Newbie to the site, trained by 30 year veteran

Hey all, I've been scanning through the forum for years now but just finally got around to making an account and posting.
A little about my situation- About 3 years ago I met an older man that had been cultivating in NY, CA, and back in NY for about 30 years. Obviously long before it became mainstream and legal. We started working together at our full-time machining job and became fast friends. Over the next year, he began training me on the cultivation side of his life, I think mostly out of his need for an extra set of hands, as well as his want to have a successor in the event of his death or retirement.
Fast forward a year, and I bought my first house. I was eager to set up my own room and with his training and help, i was confident to go relatively big. Not a closet at all but a 14x16x10' room with 4 hps grandos, running ebb and flow with rockwool and Vanilla Kush. I have had great success over the past year and a half or so, minus a few hiccups here and there. Nothing detrimental, but I did learn that this shit will survive 28° F temperatures, although obviously yield was about a third of what I was used to.
Currently I am running 3 rooms, a much shorter room with two hps 6's and an LEC 630 in between them and a top feed, and a much smaller room with a single hps grando also top feed I use to try out new strains. Currently Vanilla Kush is my tried and true, but I've recently started playing with Quantum Kush and just started my first experiment with Locomotion.
Unfortunately, my friend died in a car accident earlier this year and although he had taught me so much to allow me to swim rather than sink, I find myself with questions and no one to ask. I regularly go online to research and am also regularly met with conflicting information as most of you are probably aware.
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and give a little background on what I have going on. If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to answer or share what wealth of information I was so graciously provided from my mentor.

Way easy once you know the basics. I've never really successfully run dirt. The whole bug thing turns me right off about it.

Yeah ive had excellent luck with the kushs, I've for sure abused them at times and never popped a seed. They seem pretty resilient. Taking a million cuts when I only need 30 and then culling out the weaker ones. My buddy used to say it strengthens the strain, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't- there's no change in genetics so the strain is always the same :D

What you running for light
I've always been a little sketched out about powdered nutes, I feel like it's harder to get them to stay dissolved. And I run florescent for veg with the occasional led if I run out of space, and hid for bloom with an LEC thrown in for mixed spectrum in one room.
I've gone back and forth with lazy and on top of my rooms. I've almost lost my entire room 3 runs in a row due to pump issues, so I try to make sure I check it every day around feed time if possible, or at least inspect slabs to be sure they're not too dry

what kinda pumps you use I like Danner pups
Currently I'm using cheap Amazon pumps, kedsum to be exact. They have been more reliable than the... Active aqua I think? I also keep a few of each on the shelf since they are so cheap- 20 bucks or so for an 880gph.

Looks like the danner pumps are the real deal! I might have to move to something like that if it gives me peace of mind. Although I do kind of like being sure I'm in the room every day, helps to keep me on top of weird issues. I don't use a ppm gauge or digital ph gauge, so I have to be a little more in tune with how the plants are acting.

Doesn't look bad for 4 weeks. I was never impressed with led- I had a friend pull about a tenth of what I pull using led, same wattage, same strain, same nutes. Although he didn't clearex at all so he might've run into nute buildup.

fwiw Im pretty sure the majority of liquid nutrients are made with powders

Must have been some crappy LEDs lol.. 1000w of strips/QBs > 1000w HPS

Yes, he's very budget oriented! 80 dollar Amazon LEDs :D

Also- I don't doubt that most nutes start out powdered somewhere in manufacturing, I guess I just find it easier to suspend another liquid in liquid.

lol thats the problem.. the newer LEDs are way more efficient watt 4 watt

I can feel that.. I use hot water to turn however much powder into a concentrated liquid and then add that to however much nutrient mix I need so its essentially adding liquid to liquid.
