hi all, quality site saved aload of money buy not having too buy books and that lol.
starting my 1st grow, using a small space.
Thinking of using these auto-flowering ak47s or lowryders, basikly any thoughts on lighting, heaters, fans etc
On a very tite budget so only need too no the must haves :).

What you need is whatever it takes to keep the light right, the temp right, the humidity right. I'd start with deciding between dirt and water.

Thanks for the reply, was defintly thinking of dirt rather then hydro. I have a white tube light so far, will i need enuva diffrent light if i was usin just white light alone?

Since those strains won't grow too tall you'd be best using "Cool/Daylight" (6500˚K) bulbs for vegetative growth and "Warm/Soft" (2700˚K) for flowering. Compact Fluorescent Lights are pretty cheap, stay cool, and are maneuverable enough to cover much more plant surface allowing for more light penetration/higher yields. Soil would be a good choice for your first grow, Fox Farm Ocean Soil seems to be most growers' choice, but any high-quality soil with all the essential nutrients and other goodies will be fine if you can't get FF. Small computer fans will do for ventilation if it's going to be a stealthy grow and you can find plenty of DIY carbon scrubber instructions on RIU's forums to help with the smell. A small oscillating fan would help your plants develop strong branches and will help with temperature control if needed, too! Keep Relative Humidity in the 40%-60% range, starting your seedlings with more moisture and backing it off as you go. Temps should be in the mid-to-high 70s during the day, but could get into the 80s, and can drop 10 degrees at night time with minimal impact on plant development. Got my lighting sorted, seeds on way :D.
isit true that tinfoil can consentrate light like a magnifine glass and burn the leafs? coz i have lined the walls with foil so need too no asap incase i need too take it off and paint the walls white :).

Hey Hazer,

Welcome to RIU. To answer your question concerning the tin foil is yes it will burn some plants in some instances. Since your probably going to go with CFL's, than I would not worry to much about burning them at the start but if you are going to switch to a HPS or MH than def get rid of tin foil.

You can do one of several things, Paint the room flat white, score some mylar, or you can get an emergency blanket from Walmart or a store like it.
