Newbie Question =/

well this is my first grow and i had a question, ive been growing my plants for about 3 weeks now but they are still very lil and i been reading around and some ppl say to have them in light 12/12 off ... others say to have them in light 24/7 which one is better 12/12 or 24/7 . also im not sure but all plants grow in nature (outdoors) with sun and night so is that the same concept for indoors?

days get shorter as the year goes on, when the days reach approximately 12 light 12 dark the plant starts budding in effort to reproduce. You want your plant to grow big and strong under say 18 hours light 6 hours dark then switch to 12/12 to start the flowering process. Upon changing the lights to 12/12 the plant says ok, the year is running out so lets reproduce and make seeds before winter comes and I die.
