Newbie looking for a good ballast, and bulb(s).

getting ready for my first grow.
so a few questions here. ill try to number them with a bit of detail so they all get answered.
thankyou for your time!

1. what kind of ballast?
I have read so many different opinions on this one...
budget isnt a big issue right now.
im wanting the 600 lumatek or the 600 quantum. kinda leaning towards the quantum unless you guys have some info i should know about.

2. hps bulb?
i'm liking the ushio bulb from what im seeing.
any other suggestions?

3. MH conversion bulb
I was gonna go with one of these bulbs.
ill take any suggestion on this. to me MH doesnt seem as important.

4. what do i need as far as lighting?

cooled hood
(any cords or anything?)

Are you always this stubborn? Ipower and Apollo are some of the best. Just because there not a grand doesn't mean there not good. You Sir, are an ass. Good luck with you're failed attempt at growing

Do you want a cooltube? A sunburst? The thing with amazon is you can read reviews for the item. See what other people have said about it, you're not in the dark. A few of those even come with timers and such. You're better off buying the whole bundle, so you get a warranty for everything.

i haad to log on and rep you for that one, too funny! leds are are good but not really that great... plus if you want to get into that, you should build em. save some money, get more watts, and a better spectrum more to your liking. as far as a good ballast, a magnetic will never die, they are cheap and easy to fix if they do break. hortilux is a good bulb brand for mag ballasts, and so is phillips. if you get a digital ballast, get any one with a warrenty there is new knockoff brand on ebay called apollo they seem to be getting really good reviews, but the bulbs they supply with are shitty. as far as a hood any air cooled hood i would go with what matches the rooms/tent profile and has 6" or 8" ducting flanges

1) I run a magnetic ballast cant help with

2) The ushio bulb has great reviews.
2a) They are different bulbs. Look at the parts number. The super is a great hps bulb, and possibly my next purchase, as it is time to upgrade bubs and get some other shit done.

3) never ran a mh conversion bulb. I can see a dual spectrum mh hps worthy, but I never had a reason to run a conversion as my ballast runs either with a switch flip.
As for Mh important or not, a Mh will make a plant grow fast as fuck, Not sure how that cant be important. I ran hps veg and mh. Best to date, Mh had some real grow power. Each their own.

You are obviously needing a ballast, let people point you in the direction between your 2 choices. I have no experience with either as said I run a magnetic. If you asked why I choice to run that I will answer. I am not going to hey run my shit, like a guy with Leds had done. Not my nature.

Bulbs again the Ushio was nice.

Hood look them over well, Each has a feature another doesn't. Raptors are pricey but do a great job. Remember will need a fan and don't skip a filter.

Cords. here we go, an area I can really help you with. Most ballast only come with a 110. Be sure to get one that matches your setup. if you are planning 240, get a 240 cord.

TokeHoldCough care to tell me an led setup don't have a ballast? Of course it does. Its common name is a driver. Does it get hot? If it works it will have some heat. Probably not as much as a ballast for hps/mhs but then mine is hardly even noticeable .

I picked up one of the OG reflectors from growlite.com for my new hydro set up. it reflects light much better than my old hydro farm xtrasun. It has an extra air pocket inside to stay cooler as well. i love it. Check them out. My friend recommended I pick one up because he was able to get a higher yield from a 600 hps and the OG reflector than he gets from his old hood with a 1000 hps. Otherwise I run lunatek digital ballasts. They've always worked great though I haven't compared them to any other ballasts. Digital ballasts just seem to stay cooler. Little better on your electric bill and are adjustable between different watt bulbs and you can adjust the intensity from 60-100%.

Why is it some kids get something in their minds and wish to ignore what someone has asked? Instead inject their petty thought into a persons dilemma.

Yeah I had seen that poly. I am debating a ballast swap too. Just hard to bounce from the magnetic, as it has served me well awhile.

i dont know i mean its one thing to suggest but after a direct no, there is no reason to pursue the thought... as for ballast switchups, if you keep the mag as a backup like i do switch it up! get a new one with warranty so you will at least get your money back out of it before the warranty ends. @toke "LEDs are better?" why is this always the debate? all light sources have their ups thier downs wtf does "leds are better" mean absolutely nothing. have you ever took into consideration this guys growing style or rooms size or ceiling height? how are you gonna tell him leds are better for him than himself?, you sound foolish.

You know what's foolish? You and stoking, the first time yes I offered the guy wisdom on LEDs he didn't take it!! The second time I was talkin to sloping because he made a dumb ass comment on LEDs, and then he continues to suck cock... Like the bitch in his avatar
