Newbie Grow. Macgyver Style. (pics+?'s)

My first post here and my third try growing. My first attempt did flower and was harvested but the plant was long and thin, not much buds and quality wasnt that great. My second grow germinated but did not take to being potted and died. This is my third grow and its not anything serious just doing it for fun and maybe experience for a future grow with better seeds and equipment. Everything I used was found parts from my home so its not the best set up. List of things I used:

1. A CD box, lined with white paper and some aluminized plastic from a potato chips bag(told ya it was macgyver styles).

2. Lighting is from a fish tank light with two cfl bulbs combined wattage is in the high 20's.

3. A fan.

4. Seeds collected from various bags of weed. Not the best buds but its not stress.

The grow box for now.

The plants, started with four but one was lost due to my own dumb ass mistake. Yes they're in juice boxes. This pic is roughly 1 week and 2 days from putting the seeds in the soil. 1w 5d from germination.

Plants in box, the lights arent as yellow as it looks, its the settings on my camera.

Close up, this is roughly 1 week and 3 days.

Now for the Q's:

1. Do they look small or are they normal sized for the amount of light they are getting?

2. Would 24hrs of light kill my plants? Is it recommended?

3. When I pot the other two should I bury some of the stem for added support?

Any other critiques and comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.:joint:

1. now that you have your seedlings started, the only suggestion I can make at this point is to switch to CFLs, that little flouro wont do anything but stretch them out.

2. Plants need Darkness almost as much as they need light. Put them on 16/8 (16 hours of light, 8 hours of dark)

3. yes, and look into the technique that is scuffing the lower stem, add rooting gel, and you'll get more roots. The better the root system... the better lol.

Last bit of advice, it looks like you're using Aluminum foil, which is okay, but I just got some good advice from a friend, that shiney wrapping paper, try that stuff its supposedly made from Mylar.

Good luck with that. -PG

also your juice boxes need some holes toward the bottom, make sure they can drain any excess water. Make sure you don't water them while they're IN the box though lol, u don't want the excess drain water getting all in your lil seedling starter box ;) Love it! Hope this goes well for you, I'll be looking to see what you move the grow to next :)

Heres a update on the only survivor.

Aug 8th, I switched from two 13w bulbs to one 27w bulb.

Aug 9th

Aug 10th, I transplanted the plant around this time and it was stressed a bit. I also under watered the plant and it stunted the growth for roughly a week.

Aug 23rd, switched from the 27w bulb to a 40w bulb. This is when she started growing again.

Aug 27th, first 5 leaves are out now.

Aug 27th, four levels of leaves with the fifth level coming soon. They are growing closer together now.

Ive rigged up a new starter box out of a plastic fish tank, Ill get better pics later but this new box should last me until Im ready to flower.

Heres me, Im 27 but look like Im in my late teens. Still get carded for smokes all the time.

This grow is purely experimental now, Im using this grow to figure out what I will be needing for a more successful(hopefully) grow in a few months. Reading about growing is good but I think actually growing something out is a better learning experience. I've learned about ph'ing the water, lighting, and general set up from this plant so far. I still need to learn about nutrient enrichment and a lot of other stuff. I recently found out my buddy has 75(!!!) kush seeds so Im hoping I can score some of those babies from him.

its strange i never realize how much my plant has grown until i post up pics here. i thought its growth was slowing but its actually gotten a lot bigger now. i had some problems with bugs but i think i have them resolved. you can read about that in this post:

i love this pic looks like its wearing a crown on top, hopefully thats a queens crown.

the plans genetics are suspect as it has been growing deformed leaves. there is a new set of leaves with symmetrical deformities and others are growing in with missing pieces. i'll post a pic of those leaves later.

bought some stuff to make a flowering box. i got two rubber maid tubs for 5.99 each and all the other stuff i got at the dollar store.:hump: only thing missing is some pc fans to vent the box and cool the lights.

this is from today sept 5th. yesterday we had a power outage and i thought i may have had to flower my plant before i wanted but the lights came back on before sunset. im going to train it for about a week and a half and then put it into flowering.

im using a very simple velcro attachment point to keep the lines tight.

thanks for the comments so far, if anyone has any advice or sees any problems with my plant i'd appreciate any help i can get.
