Newbie first time grow.

Hi guys,
I have been reading these forums for a little bit now and I got curious and decided to plant a seed for fun and see what comes of it.
If I could get your thoughts on this (criticism welcome) that would be appreciated.

I started to veg this seed at the end of August, and as soon as it came out and got to about 3" tall I put it in my grow area (unused shower lol). I've been giving it 24 hours light since the beginning of September and just switched it to 18/6 on a timer today not to confuse it because I don't want to flower just yet. I put some mylar around it today in hopes that it will get bushier. I'm planning on giving it till the end of the month on 18/6 then switch to 12/12 November 1st.

Im using one 100w equivalent CFL - 6500k and recently added my old aquarium light to promote stem bushyness. I know this setup is super ghetto and probably really wrong, but it was more of a science experiment than anything. I don't really care if I get a lot of bud out of it or not. I just want to know your opinion.

I've been feeding it Schultz 10-15-10 since about 4" tall and followed directions as per the bottle. I've been flushing it though for about a week now (two day intervals @300ML because I started getting thick yellowish lines in a couple leaves, they since have repaired themselves and are beautiful green).

Thanks in advance.

U just said it it is an experiment just do research and research while you still taking care of her. looks good thus far. Keep us updated after the first of next month. And my only advice is would be your pictures, get em straight up, cause my neck is hurting now =)

Looks like you're growing it in a shower?
Sure am. It's in one of the spare bedrooms that isn't used. No window in this washroom either so darkness isn't going to be an issue.

Uoeno: Thanks for the tip lol. I realized it after they uploaded. I swear they were taken straight :p

Great place for a grow! :)

Looking good, but you may want to give her a little shake every day, or get a fan on her. This will strengthen the stalk, because she will bend over with the weight of bud on her at a later date....

I've decided to start flowering today so that I can get a solid 8 weeks, and should be ready just in time for christmas. I added another light, and also changed the bulbs to 2700k. I've also decided to lay the Mylar sheet on the base, this way the light from up top can reflect it back up.

Stay tuned. And thank you for all the advice/feedback.

Hey everyone,

It's been 2 weeks since I've last posted on here, and I thought I'd keep you guys up to date. Up until last night there was absolutely no sign of any flowering with the exception of what looked like formation of some new leaves. Too my surprise after I got back from work today, I went to go check up on her, since lights were on and low and behold - I have pistols.

Anything you guys suggest I do? Or just keep on doing what I'm doing.

I've tried LST, but I didn't really like the way things were going with her, so I just made her go straight again.

Thoughts!?

Cheers

Gotta love the skimpy ladies. I have some of those on my SOLO cup grow. Make sure to brace the stem. if not the weight of the buds will snap that little sucker.

Thanks for the replies.

I planned on bracing her in the not too distant future because i figured the weight would topple her. I'm just going to use a spare piece of dowel and a little piece of rubberized wire to hold her up. As for lighting, I can't really do too much more. I physically have nowhere to put extra lights and I don't want to buy another $30 desk light. :p

I'm surprised that I have as many flowers as I do. I counted them up and there's 14 of them. They may be small but not bad for only using 2 23w cfl's. :p

looking good for two 23 watt CFL, but as everyone says, if you can get more lights you will get better results, but you are doing just fine.

one suggestion....keep your grow area clean, and get rid of anything that doesn't need to be there

it looks quite lanky is it stretched?? or just the sativa genes

Yeah I believe it stretched out a bit. Judging by how thick the leaves are though, I'm almost positive it's an Indica. The smallest leaf is about 1/2" wide. When I started flowering on October 19th, it was about half the size. I tried to do an LST grow but I didn't like how it was reacting to the light environment. It was growing like a step. Kinda like this ___| I felt that wasn't right so I let it free then it just shot up. I also don't have a fan running on her to promote stem strength, and when she was in the veg state (approx 2 months) I only had one 23w cfl on her for the last month. The first month mother nature took care of the light.

I've done a lot of research since I've started this and now know exactly what to do for the next batch once I am financially able to build a proper grow box. I was too scared initially to invest in a setup to only find out that this plant would be a male, or something I did wrong killed it etc etc. I have plans to build a nice stealth box with proper lighting, fans, carbon filters etc utilizing an old bar fridge. ;)

Cheers

Definitely reflectors and/or more lights. Also, I'd put a fan on her, as that will help strengthen her up for when she flowers.

Ok.....first thing....why did you flush?
Second thing....unless it's out of the photo, you should have a fan blowing on your plant. It'll strengthen your plant's branches, and keep bugs from making your plant their home.
