Newbie experience with Timber Grow Lights & DIY

Just a quick update, I picked up an additional 150w 3 COB kit (3000k Citizen to act as a bloom booster) and wanted to post a pic of the engine because it looks like now they tap the sides off the heat sinks too which rocks. Notice the standard holes on the bottom but now there's an additional two on the sides. Good stuff.

Loving how modular this gear is. I just got done adding the CLU048s @3K to my existing array (center row, notice the citizens are a tad smaller). Everything slotted in nicely, just waiting for lights-on to hang them.

Round 1 up and running . Now let's see what she can do? I'm thinking of adding a couple t5 uv bulbs but maybe next run ? What do you guys think ?

Me too. Retired 8K worth of HPS to go led. My old electric bill was 1200 a month w/ veg included. Down to about 500 now. Waiting on the next bill to know for sure.
Cut electric in half & am looking to get a 3# increase in total yields hopefully.
Is that the Timber w/ the added 660 they offer? Pretty cool.

Drooling at these lights! Can't wait to order up some of these cobs!

Yeah it is and he added the 730 nm to my kit also . For the extra lights on time but I'm scared to do it so we will see on that one ?

Go with Timber Grow Lights. They are super cool Dan the owner is always available and answers any questions no matter how stupid you may think it is ? They come all numbered and color coded . It is easy.

Electric kills the fun sometimes so I'm glad it will come down some and like you said my yield should jump up. I only have 1 plant under the light right now but in like 4 days it has went super frosty and it seems to be getting fatter than it has before . We will see soon .

Yeah I have been lurking here on RIU, as well as watched Growmau5 yout tube videos each about 5 times now lol timber seems to be the most versatile as far as modular and easily upgradable and not going 100% diy and ordering straight from China... just want to make sure I know exactly what I'm doing before dropping the large chunk of cash... great to hear some non salesman reviews!

I just started using them . They look sweet and I've done a bunch of reading and watching YouTube videos. These are good lights. And very well built for what is out there now . They are a great diy and they really aren't bad priced . You can build this frame yourself . But they don't tax on that really either. Man I'm no spokes person for them I just bought some lights lol sound like it though don't I ? Lol

Quick shot of my current grow (2nd grow total and first mainline attempt) under the lights. Just hit week 5 in flower and some of the purple is starting to show (Exotic Genetix Citrus Berry)

Diggin the mainlines! I'm working on my first set with a couple in veg, about to start week 2 of their training.

Nice man, yeah I'll do it again but most likely not before giving SCROG a shot. I made some mistakes such as breaking one of only two (at the time, this was very early) mains. I promptly taped it and the plant healed but this break set the precedent for that entire half a plant for the future of the grow. You can see the results in the photo, the one I snapped way back when is the middle plant so basically 4 of its 8 colas are now smaller. Not a big deal but something I hadn't considered going in. I had this vision of perfectly level equal height colas : ) Now knowing that a goal like that will take time to hone and work towards, I'll probably experiment with other approaches before settling on something. That plus I didn't factor in genetic variance enough. The one on the far left is about 1.5" taller than the others which bothers me.

I will say that I'm very much looking forward to the ease of trimming on this grow over my first. My first grow's harvest was a constant mind battle of "should I keep this?" because everything was so inconsistent. This batch will be very easy because all that's there is solid for the most part.

Lastly I'm not sure if the additional time it takes makes sense for me. At this point I'd rather take a hit on yield over the course of a year if it means I'd have time for another strain/grow. It's just me and my wife so yeah, another factor is opportunity cost but again, with experience I'm sure I could have gotten to flower faster.

Thanks slow, that helps immensely! I also have the vision of equal cola's, but you reminded me that isnt likely. Funny how our excitement clouds things we already know, haha. Do you think a way to manage the unequal tops would be keep them as even as possible before flip and try to keep light as even as possible? The one on the left looks darn near textbook to me.

I'm trying to balance quality (which is taking preference in any decision) and quality, with a perpetual setup, in a 22x35x63 tent. Vegging outside the tent of course. I dont plan to have more than 3 plants in there at any time for circulation and pm reasons. And that would be more than plenty for me. I have a lonely girl in their now flowering on day 29, and these mainlines will join in 4-5 weeks. Repeat.

slow, what else you got goin' on in those grow bags? It almost looks like plain old bedding straw as a mulch? What kinds of plants are those peeking out from underneath the girls?
