New to This...

Ok, so I'm new to this whole thing and I'm not sure if I'm doing it correctly. I started with 11 plants in my closet...I now have 3. They didn't die it's just I am kind of pressed for time and space to I picked the "best" three and now im running with it. They are in a closet and are under two 60W plant light bulbs. They receive 18hrs on and 6 hrs off of light. I water them whenever they need it (when the leaves seem to point upward and the soil is considerably dry). I also had them in 3 in. pots with miracle gro potting soil for the 1st two and a half weeks. I just recently transplanted them into 7 in. pots with the same kind of soil. The smallest one is 5-6 in. and the biggest is 7-9 in. They all look healthy to me. My question to you is...when I transplanted them I put them into NEW miracle-gro soil...so do I still add nutes? Or should I wait the 2-3 weeks again for the plant to use up all the nutes in the soil already? Also, do the initial, bottom two leaves (the smallest ones that appear during sprouting) die out eventually or are they supposed to hang around? Because mine are startin too look kind of yellow ont he biggest plant...But all the other leaves are lush green. Pictures attached... Thanks guys.

Haha you bought that fan and those pots from walmart... teehee

Anyway, you're plants are stretching. THis means that the light is not focused enough. What type of bulbs are you using? Compact fluorescent (the swirly looking ones) or fluorescent tubes (the long straight ones)? You should be using either HID (high intensity discharge) light or fluorescent light. If you are using fluorescent light, they MUST be only a couple inches away from your plants. They are much too stretched out, seeking more light.

Also, yes those two round starter leaves will fall off and die. You should bury your plants all the way to the first set of fan leaves (yes, bury the first set of oval shaped ones)... This will support the stem. Get them as close to those bulbs (IF THEY ARE FLUORESCENT) as possible. I offer this advice only if your bulbs do not get hot like incandescent ones. You gotta tell us what type of bulbs you are using.

They look ok, but they need much more light, and try to bury them deeper if possible.
In addition, paint those walls white, white reflects alot of light and will help alot. If you can't paint, get white posterboard and put it all around. if you are using "cool to the touch" lights then focus that fan at the plants. THis will strengthen stems and promote healthy growth. If you wanna see what all this looks like, look at my grow journal (link is in the signature). You'll see what I mean by your plants being too stretched.

Oh one more thing, and this is SO important, i learned the hard way. I assume you're watering with spring water, or distilled or w/e. make SURE that the water has a pH of 6.5, no higher than 7 and no lower than 5.8.

WHat type of miracle grow soil is it? I started off with MG but i had to switch cuz it really is a bad quality soil. I switched to foxfarm soil which made a seriously noticeable difference in less than 24 hrs.

Try to answer these questions so you can get more help/advice.
