New to This and Growing (Second Post) Need Help!

Dannyboy has it right. I would forget the topping and just LST. I think I saw a previous post recommending transplanting to a bigger pot- I would do this as gently as possible and flip to 12/12 if you want herbage by the time you have to leave in July. Definitly going to be cutting it close time-wise and it may be you have to cut it a bit early, as flower time is generally a little slower under a cfl.

Thanks!I have a new problem I just noticed this morning,I have one leaf with two tiny yellow spots on it,this is a newer leaf.My last watering was just water with no nutes, was going to nute it tomorow on its next water. Is this a nute burn or is it lack of nutes.I did water it heavily on its last water as I read I should add about as much water as half the pot size.Let it drain some and then left it alone.I also noticed another mature leave with a tiny hole in it,I don't see any bugs. What should I do?

on my last water I did get the leaves wet but havent since and I believe that was on friday. Thanks I will keep an eye on it and see if it does get any worse.I will add my nutes when I water tommorow and hope it is o.k.

I have constant battles with fungus gnats. I hate them. I use water with mosquito dunks in them to kill the larvae, and a pyrethrin spray by garden safe. I've tried diamotaceous earth (it tends to draw moisture out of the soil), I've covered the surface area of the soil with sand- that traps the larvae in the soil where they eventually die and the ones flying around cannot get to the soil to lay eggs, but with sand you have to watch your soil holding moisture as the sand is a barrier and will block air getting to the roots.

Bugs suck, and it requires constant awareness and usage of a variety of means to attack them from different fronts all at once. I currently have a grow of AK48 going. My plants just went from seedling to veg and were transferred from cups to 5gal grow bags. Well, with that much soil surface the gnats are having a field day. Covered 2 w diamotaceous earth, 2 with sand, and will be doing an azamax drench of the soil of all 4 plants when its time to water in a few days.

Also- I use sticky traps hanging from my reflector hood down towards the plant. Check out the thread about bugs, lots of good tips. Just remember it's going to be something you have to stay watchful for and hit them as soon as you see them.

Good luck. I'm off now to try and save some sweet corn and beans which are laying over from last nights storms. Always somethin! :)

Thanks again!I noticed there are actually quite a few leaves with tiny yellow spots towards the tips of the leaves.Could this be from me hitting then with water a few das agao or am I looking at something else?

A pic of the leaves would make it easier to tell, there are lots of things that can cause spotting, with bugs and water drops being but two of them.

Here she is a couple weeks later.I am actually 1 week and 3 days ito flower as I have to leave town in july, next time will definately veg longer (should have planned it better). As you can see some of the pics some leaves have the spots on them I was talking about. They havent really gotten worse but have noticed a couple more.Payday for me as well either going to get an HPS or more cfl 2700 fixtures in there.20110601065120.jpg20110601065134.jpg20110601065100.jpg20110601065124.jpg

she is looking lovely nothing wrong with her, i carnt really see any of the brown spots so dont worry, if your going to buy more bulbs i would go for the hps, you will be pleased you did when you harvest, you could even leave the 100 watt cfl in there aswell as long as theres no heat problems, if the tips of the leaves are going brown it could be a sign of nute burn, has the soil got any nutes already in? also it will flower alot faster with the hps you will notice the buds putting on weight quicker.

p.s i dont think youve got anything to worry about she looks healthy.

I just put in the nutes today. It has been watered with plain water once and nutes twice, once in veg and once in flower so far.Everyday she gets taller will probably have to lower her tommorow as one of the colas are starting to get close to the lights.Does the hps put off more heat then the cfls,I am having a hard time now keeping her below 86 degrees, two fans in and one out but still pretty warm i think it is from the small grow tubes as I can shtu them off and it lowers about 4 degrees but I want them on for more light right now.It seems to love it when it gets around 86 or higher as it perks up and grows well so I am not sure if I should just leave the heat issue alone?

when i had the 400 hps it upped the room temps by about 10 degrees, im not really sure about a 150 though, but if you have 2 in and 1 fan out you should be fine, i think you would be better switching them around though so you have 2 out and 1 in, with a circulating fan blowing across the top of plant, also with the temps of 86 i had them sort of temps with my 400 and it didnt slow them down one bit, so if your plant has no signs of heat stress or other problems i wouldnt worry, by the way whats your fans cfm? also if you did get the hps you wouldnt need the grow tubes, its up to you though m8 just bear in mind though if you add more cfls your heat is going to go up more anyway,

Re did the fans some what and I got temps around 82 to 84,I dont want to cool it to much different then what it has been as they have already grown at this temp and seem to be doing well with no heat stress.I will look at hps today

O.k.,plant is doing well except for one problem,I had to do another lst bend due to it reaching to high on the main stalk, this went well after 3 weeks into flower except I creased the main stalk when I did this,it didnt break and isnt weak but does have a small crease/bend in it,am I ok to leave it like this or should i put it back up straight and if so what can I do about the height since it is almost touching the ceiling in the grow room if i put it backup straight?Any help soon would be appreciated.

dont worry if youve only creased it she will be fine as long as you havent ripped it? youve basically super cropped 1 stem lol keep an eye on it because it might be standing back up tomorrow! hows the bud looking?

looking good, lots of hairs and buds forming,it looks like I have about 7 main colas and some smaller ones as well.No rips in it just a fold or crease but holding strong so far,i didnt bend it to hard as I have heard they can break once they start groiwing again with the bend. When I get another chance here I will post some pics.

O.k.,now I have a huge problem,I fed her two days ago like I always do,I may have over done it slightly, yesterday morning at this time I had to bend her again (lst),dont see any breaks in the stems from the bend except one stress bend in the pic below, adjusted one fan and closed the door for about 4 hours,re checked four hours later and this is what she looks like. What did I do and can I save her?I loosened the new bends I did, adjusted the fan back to the way it was, flushed the plant with water yesterday in case of over nute. The pictures are below,Did I kill her?Is it over?Rookie mistake? The levaes ALL curled and wilted yesterday but were flexible, today the same except the leaves are dry and crunchy even the bud leaves.

yeah,i figured i guess that i could eyeball the nutes the same I have been using the super bloom 12-55-6 with .10 chelated iron. The funy thing is i nuted it two days ago,it was o.k. yesterday morning, then I had to lst again due to room but was carefull, then 4 to 5 hours later this happened so I thought I ripped, cut or broke something,so I rechecked and all is o.k.,i loosened the bends, put the fan back th3e way it was and it is still doing this. The buds look o.k. but the smell dissapeared almost instantly. What should I do or is it a goner?I only had 3.5 weeks left of flower, upset.I think I may have added just a little to much nutes the other day but flushed it yesterday evening when I got the chance with just water.

did you flush it properly? ( 3 x the amount of water to pot) try flush it again and keep your fingers crossed, it looks badly burnt but there strong plants so it might pull back round!
