New to the scene.. Need friendly advice and tips

As far as the nutes, I just started a new hydro grow 12/12 from clone because I have sites 6 inches apart spread over 5'x7' feet so if I let it veg they get way too damn big and it causes problems (something I learned my first grow with this setup), but I wanted to get some use out of my 'grow nutes' and since the first week or two it will be stretching actively anyways, I started them off with 250 ppm to 600 second week and so far they are looking great. I think if you use grow nutes on a seedling (not 600 ppm though, lol) you could probably use grow nutes for the first 3 weeks or so effectively since even in 12/12 it will be in veg until it reaches critical mass to flower.
for sure, that makes sense. Could I just put nutes in a spray bottle and let the seedling absorb from its leaves?

Ok so I just looked at my tallest plant and from its first "pedals..not its first true leave" to the third node there are no leave.

My question is will bud grow down there? Or will it only grow from where it has leaves?

Hey, I'll be starting my first grow soon, and I really appreciate being able to follow your progress. Some of the questions you've asked would have doubtlessly cropped up during my own attempt, so in a sense I appreciate you taking the hit. :) Good luck with your grow, and I'll be keeping an eye on this thread to see how everything comes out.

Good job Cerebral. Im glad you stuck with this thread, as I am a brand new to the scene as well. After the first post of running 12/12 I thought you were nuts as well. (As far as my reading has done you are a nut :)) but following the thread has reminded me to keep an open mind and to keep researching.

I hope your financial burdens turn around, and you can afford the gear you want!

I just ordered a solar storm and am about to get going! I'm going to keep an eye on this 12/12 as I think it would be awesome to do as I could run a few diff strains and have a variety! Good luck

Thanks greatly man, it's awesome to hear my failure can help others lol. I'm going to post from start to finish on my grows. Come back any time.

here to learn and for other to learn as well. 12/12 all day! Spread the word.

Exactly! This was my very first thought. And if anyone's a breeder or wants to make their own strain, why wait? 12/12 from seed is totally possible and fast. Granted you won't get 10oz off one plant this way but it's the way to go for stealth and even breeding in my opinion. But I'm a complete noob so what do I know.

And yea I'm crazy... Crazy awesome :bigjoint:

Also thanks for the best wishes, I could go for winning the lottery.

As far as spraying nutes on leaves, I don't think so (also don't quote me on that) simply because roots are very specifically designed for this very function. There are sprays designed to protect from pests and mold and help leaves absorb light better but spraying nutes on leaves will probably just burn them, especially seedlings - they are very sensitive.

Ok then, scratch the nute spray.. Got it.

Extra happy today.. Got my second ever female plant. What are the odds? Both of my two first seeds were female!

edit update* btw this is my ak47 I found breaking up some home grown ak47 my dealer gave me.

This plant was stunted hard by means unknown, maybe it was too hot, maybe the ph was off who knows but I planted it a week or two after my tallest plant was first born. It's wayyyyy far behind but it showed sex about a week after my tallest one did.

Assuming 50% Male to Female representation in the genetic pool the odds would be 25%. A statistician worth his salt could argue for days about this however.
It was more of a retoracle question. But since we are talking statistics I have 16 plants all together, 2 of which are 100% female. What's the probability of the others coming out female as well? The other 14 were planted at the same time (if that matters to anyone, although it wouldn't make a difference).

And it's 50% because there are only male and female genes in the gene pool right?

But what about hermies? I know it has to do with stress and other factors but wouldn't it bring the percentage down? Like 33.3 maybe?

image.jpgOk so these are my seedlings 1 month in. I noticed some have been stretching up a lot, I assume these guys are male.

image.jpgThese are my "twins" you can notice the growth of the left plant.

image.jpgThe same growth is on top of this plant as well. I looks like a "bulb" or "ball"
image.jpgSame two twins as before, my question is..

Are these the earliest signs of males? I've seen people show their plant was a male through the nodes, but never from the very top of the plants. Not one picture have I seen someone show the very top of the earliest signs of a male plant.. Is this the first one? If so I'd be helping a shit load of people.

*****and can someone please tell me how to post larger images. Like one where it shows the picture as big as the comment window.I hate these little pictures you have to click on to see!!!

Lol...those small pics suck...I'm sure you'll figure it out...I'm on a kindle not sure if it can be done.
I wouldnt foliar feed until there are 5 fingered leaves....I don't think their is method to spot males early..only that some males are usually a little lankier or taller than fems but its really genetics.I guess if you had some stable genes running you could spot males pretty early ....but there is a noticeable diff Imo between m and f when spotting them early on.I get what your saying though ive been growing the same seeds for years and i spot the males from the top node first.12/12 fs im able to spot males pretty early, like you said a little bulb shape, the females are usually a little wispier at the top...hope I don't sound like an idiot..I'm high, just trying to smart...lol.GL

Damn I hope some one can answer my question. It looks nothing like a female to me. Maybe I'm wrong, only time will tell I guess. I want to get them out before they pollinate. The bulbs re coming from the very top of the plant like when females show their hairs. Except instead of hairs poking out from different areas on the top newest growth, there is one cluster of who the fuck knows. There's only three of them that look like this in my sea of plants.

Am I the lucky guy to get 13 female plants from 16 bag seed??
Thats gotta be a record or something lol.

And I'm on an iPad and I can't for the life of me make these damn pictures bigger. I feel like people passing through this thread will do exactly that when they see these tiny pics. I'm sure people are to lazy to individually click and see each picture. (I know I do when I'm looking through others threads, unless I'm 100% interested in seeing what the picture is).

I was guna help but i see some people already tried, thnx sunni for trying to pull this guy outta the gutter.
Lol its not a coincidence how you see the same people saying/doing wierd stuff like this, just read how to grow and do it wth is the point in this.

Its funny tho how some of these people are saying dont listens to these guy's its there opinion but you people are doing the exact same shoving this 12/12 idea down this guy throat which is unfair becuz hes not getting the result he could get lol. all i say is,
read a grow book learn the basics, like not cutting of fan leaves especailly when there that young, where did you even get that idea.

And if you do some proper research and you still come to the same conclusion well i feel sorry for you as your missing out man. peace

You have no idea what you are talking about.

How is 12/12 from seed faster?

It isn't.

A plant won't go into flowering until it is mature enough to go into flowering so basically you are just denying it 6 extra hours of grow time for the first 2-3 weeks.

I myself chose to do 12/12fs myself, no one is forcing me. And if you guys doubt this method that's fine, just come back around every so often to see how my grows doing.

As as far as not knowing what I'm talking about, if you veg for a couple months then switch to flower it takes those couple of months for it to show its sex. When growing 12/12fs it veggies for about a month and then starts showing sex. So the vegging stage in my plants life is shorter... Am I right?

Now if you can't tell that that time period is shorter then go back to school my man. (Althour) Or just don't post on this thread. Thanks!

So all of the seedlings I had were males :cuss::wall:, but my little ak47 showing beautiful little hairs at a whopping 2" tall. And my hairy Mary plant getting nice and tricomie. I can't believe all of my newest seedlings came out to be male. Shit sucks. But I'm sticking to just these two plants now. I need to be a good student to these plants. Learning my way to harvest.

now my oldest plant is showing signs of nute burn, but I'm not giving it any nutes lol. I've heard some nute burn is good for flowering plants. But since I butchered my lower fan leaves ,there's no bumper for error.
