I'm have my first hydro grow started using MG aero garden bounty. My sprout has black spots. Is this mildew? Or some kind of nut problem?

I just change my water out on Monday. Was at 5.8 when I poured it in. These pics was from yesterday.

I germ my seed in that pod. In the bounty. Came up fast. I don't see how it would be to young. Thing already has a lot of roots.

I have a 4" air stone in the water.

Then the problem wouldn't be "hydro" would it? It would be aeration of the solution. You can start seeds in rockwool with a drip. Isn't that "hydro"? Yes, yes it is.

OP...honestly, not sure. Ph is good. Make sure that you're not over doing the nutes. The new shoots look like Nitro Toxicity with the burned tips. But again...hard to say. Make sure all the conditions are right and it will grow through it. Good luck.

..Except that is exactly what hydro is. Using aerated water as a medium and nutrients solution. Isn't it? Drip would be better for young roots. Let me be specific: the plant is too young for DWC.

It's showing P def, as well. A typical overwatering symptom. The only way to overwater in hydro is for the plant to not be big enough or for there to not be enough oxygen.

I have my pump set to run 1 hour in morning. Should I set it off for few days? Also would I need add another airstone? Bounty only holds a gallon of water and about 2' wide. Using 4" airstone. I have good size air pump that is for 16 gallons and up.

It's a fish tank air pump for my airstone. It runs 24/7, the mg aerogarden has built in water pump that pumps up to the cover that has channels in it that runs to the pods. So I have the water pump set to kick on 1 hour a day.

Maybe you need to kick it on for less time, or break that hour up over the day. I would say water it less frequently, but that obviously isn't an option in a hydro setup.

I don't know the specs of the MG aerogarden. But I would say yes to less pump time. 10-15 on then off for a few/repeat. If they are overwatered/no O2, this will help the roots to access more oxygen. Something to try. Diagnosing online is not always easy. Good luck.

Pretty sure that is necrosis due to either P/Mg def, or suffocation. Not even talking shit, but that is my speculation. I grow organically, man, so more power to you. Hydro is tedious, in my opinion.
