New to DWC with a few questions

Firat off bear with me please cuz some of these ?'s might seem stupid. Can i use a white bucket that is 6.5 gal? Are there any particular strains bred for DWC particularly? I live in the country and use well water. Is that going to be a problem? Where in the hell do i get a ppm meter? cuz i can't find them in any stores. What should my ideal ph level be along with temps? Lastly what different kind of mediums can i use. Thanks in advance for taking the time to help me out.

Meters - online. I'd go with the Bluelab combo meter.

Well water - depends how bad it is (get a water test at JR Peter's)

White buckets - it's not the size so much as the color. White has been shown to let light in which promotes algae growth.

Strains - they all grow fine in DWC

pH - keep pH between 5.6 and 6.1

Temps - keep temps between 64-70

Yes. Get black matte finish rustoleum spray paint. It's a certain kind that BONDS to plastic. So get some sandpaper and do a once over on the whole outside of th bucket. Bottoms don't need to be done really, wipe down, and spray. That shit works great. Sanding is key though.

Or you could just buy new buckets. Lowe's sells blue ones for $2.97

If $3 is a lot grow in the dirt, lol
