New setup...help and advice pls.

Ok so I did one grow about 3 years ago, and I was satisfied with the outcome given all the challenges I faced, the biggest difficulty was constant drop in electricity, back then I used natural soil, I used 2 fixtures of COB KITS each was 9X 75 W 90 CRI 3500K covering an area of 4 ft X 4 ft each in a grow tent.

I am planning a new grow and willing to try either a hydroponic or an aeroponic system, in any case I want to try a fully automated system, I will be using a 10X 10X 7.7 tent

What will your advice be, hydro or aero, any advice on where I can buy a fully automated ready system? I think after my first grow and after witnessing few more grows I have the experience needed.

I grew hydro back before hydro was even a thing. I liked it, but way too time consuming. After a 15 yr hiatus, I started back up, but this time I did soil. I only grow for my wife and don’t have the time I had before. So if you have the time, I would go hydro.

which did you like more, quality and yield?

if you go aero, make sure you have lots of filters in place as they can clog up your feed/spray heads. DWC would be simpler but soil is best {organic rocks}

I’ll take quality over quantity any day. My wife smokes like a train and I need the high to last her as long as possible. I’ve got it to where she Has smoke based on the reason. Pain, headaches, insomnia, etc. I feel like a pharmacist, haha.

sorry I wasnt clear, what I meant to ask is quality wise which did you like more and quantity wise which yielded more, if aero was better both way was the extra effort worth it? Or was the difference not significant?

I got larger yields with the hydro system, and the quality wasn’t all that bad either, well it actually wasn’t bad at all. But this was back when I was smoking, so my judgment today doesn’t count. I tried organic stuff back then and really liked how fruity/flavorful the bud tasted. This is why I went the organic route this time around because
1. I don’t have the time for hydro
2. my wife hates the taste of weed, but loves the effect. So I have to find the happy medium with her.
If you have the time to invest, I would go the hydro route. Some claim to be able to pull off the same weight in soil as in hydro. I won’t say it’s not possible, I’ve just never done it. Largest plant in soil was a 9-10oz photo in a 5 gal pot, hydro was easily over 15, both vegged relatively the same time.

Don’t you think automation can be helpful and save lots of time? I am seeing some automatic dosing units for nutrients and PH control... if I go hydro I am thinking of going automation as much as possible

do you advise?
