New Seeking advice - PNW Garage Grow - venting

Hi All,

I am researching before diving into my first grow. The only things I have purchased so far are the light (below) and the seeds - Jock Horror from Nirvana. I have a room I think is ideal for growing. The prior owner of our house converted a portion of the garage into a room that has a deadbolt and regular lock, several outlets and even a cable tv outlet. The room is not rectangle and is approx. 1000 sq. ft. My main concern at this point is venting. Do I purchase a grow tent and control the smell inside the tent and assume that when I open the door to the room once or twice a day that is enough to swap air into and out of the room? I have heard that mold can be an issue as well if a room is not properly ventilated.

The other option is to cut holes into the room to provide airflow but then my concern is that possibly someone can hear sound or smell the plants from my garage door. I'm not as worried about the smell as I am the sound. I've read enough to know I can carbon filter the scent and would likely have my intake be coming from the garage door area and going out the other side (my house entry door in the garage). We live in a cul de sac type neighborhood and while nobody would suspect that I would grow I prefer to be as discrete as possible. The other issue with me cutting holes is I am not exactly handy but I think I could figure it out.

Light I purchased
[h=1]Apollo Horticulture 600w HPS MH Grow Light System Digital Dimmable Hydroponic 600w HPS MH Grow Light System. High Pressure Sodium and Metal Halide bulbs, Air Cool Tube Reflector and pair of Rope Ratchets[/h]http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005EW026Q/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

My main issue is the ventilation. Other things I am considering are -

Covering the wood floors with liquid rubber. The prior owner didn't finish the room so it just has basic wood floors (not nice wood...plain wood you would see if you tore up your carpet). Although we do have spare linoleum but I'm not sure if it is enough to cover the space.

For odors I came across this tonight - Vaportek 4000 http://www.amazon.com/Vaportek-Optimum-4000-Odor-Controller/dp/B0053YOUAO

I am doing other gardening and purchased a compost tumbler. I'm going to go with soil and try and use as much of my own soil and compost as I can.

Other concern is with heat/cold/humidity. I can buy an air humidifier but am unsure on the other things.

In the PNW your more likely to need a dehumidifier than a humidifier. I run one during the dark period trying to keep RH under 60

Get a tent if your doing it in a garage man, if you can do it anywhere else i would if i were you. If you're worried about sound with the fan, get a duct silencer and a fan speed controller. As for ventilation, I wouldn't be too concerned. As long as you have a carbon filter and you keep it sealed up you should be fine. My rule of thumb when it comes to odor control, go big. I like to overdo it with the carbon filters, better safe than sorry.

Thanks! Any ideas on what I should purchase for monitoring humidity, temp, etc? I would like something that has the ability to record and feed back on daily high/low.

How big if a tent and any recommendations? I plan on having some in flowing, veg, clones but I am doing this in compliance with warm med laws so no more than 15. Guessing 8 max flowering. Only going to start with a few but want to plan ahead.
