New Seedlings

I have a couple seeds that I germinated & one I felt was good enough to be planted. It's only been roughly 24 hours or so since I put it in the soil. I can see a little bit of a difference, but should I start it out on lights right away or wait a little bit or what? Thanks for all the help guys..

I have always kept mine under 24/7 light after i put them in the dirt. Keep the soil moist and they will be fine. what kinda light are you using?

right now there's only one in the dirt..I have one 23W Daylight CFL = 100W but I do intend to get at least probably 2 or 3 more soon..only going to have 2 plants for now probably, just a learning experience really at this point. I was planning on getting the Warm CFL's for flowering & get at least 4 100W, think that would work fine? Down the road we would like to get HID's too..but I'd like to get a feel for it first really

Yeah that sounds fine. I am flowering now and I have 12 plants that are about 14-24 inches tall and I have 6-24in T12 fluorescents tubes rated for plant growth, 2-120w warm florescent bulbs, and 4-100w full spectrum/florescent daylight bulbs and things are going great. Took mine out today to see if i could see signs of male/female and so far just found 1 male and 5 females (pictured)

Those look like nice plants..I'm hoping for mine to come out looking even half as good as that this time through..how are your yields usually with just using fluorescents? I've heard mixed reviews about them while reading around

this is my first time with them as well and from what i have seen they can really grow plants. Mine are 5 weeks old today and i have a plant thats 24 inches tall and 4 others that are just about there as well. As far as their effectiveness in the flowering stage i guess i will find out in the next few weeks. I will keep ya posted

thanks for the posts everyone..I now have 2 26W CFL's on my one plant & have 2 more for the other one once it sprouts too..they are 1600 Lumens & 6500K..am I going to need all four for one plant then?

on veg... no.... assuming you have 2 plants... low number i would aim for 5000-10,000 Lumens per plant. 5000 -> minimum 10,000 -> ideal number .... your plants will grow with less but try to get as close to those numbers as possible... try picking up some bigger cfls or hps 100 watt cfls are big and put out a decent amount of lumens so get 1-3 of those with the smaller cfls you have... or just pick up a hps which might be cheaper/more effective overall you can get a hps for around 100 give or take.. if u get alot of cfls it might cost 60-70 + so might be smarter to go with the long term solution off the bat ..... only thing with hps is the heat... so you would need some sort of ventalation
