You remember which side is top and which one the bottom? How long has it been cut (is the bottom side freshly cut or is it nice and calloused [hard] all the way?) get some potting soil and pumice. If you can't get pumice get large grain perlite. Mix the two at a ratio of 1:1 when you have finished mixing and fill a pot, make sure it has holes on this pot for maximum drainage.
Finally place the cactus on the (dry!!) soil and leave in a sunny warm location (mainly just warm as it is winter) make sure its not too dry (don't water) but you don't want to put it in a spot in front of a fan for instance where the air is dry too

Mine is also fully calloused, but where I live is cold and super rainy in the winter, the air inside can be damp as well. Should I plant or should I no?
