I just moved outside of Salem and am working to get my OMMP - Only I am having trouble figuring out the best route to take. Its hard to find info about Drs that will give a scipt all I am seeing are places that seem to herd patients in once a month. I am permanantly disabled and an amputee with a well documented history of severe pain. I need to work something out soon because I only brought limited amounts of medicine with me from Florida and it is dwindling rapidly. Any info would be appreaciated.

Thanks

you need 3 visits with your doctor within the last 3 years documenting your qualifying condition. take that to any one of these card clinics, like THCF, and pay them about $150. a doctor will then write "cannabis may help" on a piece of paper. take that piece of paper to the OMMP office and pay them some more money. done and done. should take less than a week.

It took the state 2 months to process my OMMP paperwork, but the clinic will give you a copy of your paperwork which can be used as a "safety packet". If you mail your OMMP stuff, send it certified/return receipt. Keep those receipts with your "safety packet" -- the state considers this "just" as legal as your actual card. You can get a discount on your OMMP fees if you can show documentation of disability, or receive food stamps, etc...

As far as running out of meds, I've never tried the dispensary route, or craigslist deals, but they do have delivery services online which will honor your "safety packet" like it's an actual card. (prices are the same as non-medical mj). I've found that the back "Smoking Patio" of any bar with live music, or an open mic night, to be an easy way to make connections so you can re-stock your meds. In fact, here in Eugene, I've never NOT seen weed being smoked out back on a music night. :-P

Hope this helps, and good luck!

I don't think you will have any trouble whatsoever getting your card if your condition is as you described. As for delivery services and dispensaries, use a site like Leafly to make sure you are dealing with a somewhat "reputable" vendor. I have also done the craigslist thing in the past with no problems, one thing you usually run into is that the quality of the medicine when you meet up often does not meet the description of the ad. Another can be an annoying game of phone tag where it doesn't seem that the provider has any concern in getting you what you need in any sort of timely fashion. I have donated from 125-175$ an ounce using craigslist. If you're ever in Portland I recommend visiting "Oregon's Finest". They carry, from what I have experienced thus far in many visits to many places, the finest quality medicine. The problem is that the medicine is averages about 10$/grm donation for premium quality. This can add up fast if you smoke often. There are also reputable delivery services you can find on Leafly; I have not ever used one because I don't trust inviting them over to my house where I grow at.

A long term solution is to find a grower who you can work out a deal with. Growers are often looking to take on new patients, although the legal limit I believe is 4 patients per grower. Good luck friend, I hope it all goes smoothly.
