Clone is always faster and as far as how long it takes, that depends on what your veg time and basically your style of growing -- veg longer w/ less plants or veg less time w/ more plants. Some people veg 3 weeks. I veg for 8 weeks. Then you go to flower -- some strains finish in 8 weeks or less and some finish at 12-13 -- there are a lot of variables.

You really need to do a bunch of research if you're truly interested in growing. Asking about how long it takes to harvest a plant before you've done any studying is going the wrong way about it. Typically, I find that people who start off with these types of questions aren't cut out for this hobby, and are better off buying instead. I hope you can prove this wrong

The questions that you ask are good base questions but as spek9 mentions it would be very valuable for you to do research on this before you even concider growing. There are great books by Ed Rosenthal , George Cervantes and many others. Get a book and read it then re-reread it until you have answered most of your own questions then begin. Then and only then will you realize that mother nature is wickedly shrewd and she is not generous with learning curves. lots of success/failures will happen... learn from them..
