I was checking out your blog.... I don’t understand what kief is. I’m new to growing, don’t know any veteran growers..... well I do know one but that’s another story. I harvest 13oz of dry bud my last time. Is kief something left over or what?
Yeah Kief is the heads of the trichomes aka crystals that u can make a number of ways but I just use my sugar leaf (the leaves around the buds) and I dry the leaf and freeze it and hand sift it over a 120 micron screen u just basically rub the dry frozen leaves over the screen with your hands and the cold leaves have trichomes on them that’s why u freeze it so the heads will get brittle and break off n fall through the screen leaving the plant matter on the screen and the kief under the screen I put a mirror under my screen and use a large table and the trick is to not rub the leaves across the screen too hard and not too light cuz the idea is to get all trichome heads aka kief and no plant matter so if u rub too hard the leaves turn to dust letting green plant matter contaminate the kief reducing quality, smell and potency
Thanks for the info, I normally only have a shoebox full of sugar leaves, last time I made cannaoil with one oz. I had another solid Oz of sugar leaves but I left them capped to long ..... and mold set in
Yeah the vape cartridges are real popular here some of it’s good and some is just ok and they designed it to have no smell they say the odor is offensive lol there’s a lawsuit going on that is going to make dry flower legal to smoke here it’s only oil vapes or edibles right now but things look to be getting better
