New LP added to Health Canada list

Just kidding, you didn't really think this would happen did you? haha, god knows when and how many will be accepted in the next round, what a fiasco. Those who have already got their full licenses should thank the stars the worst is behind them, all these "pre-licensed" LP's yapping about mergers and acquisitions will be sitting on losses for a while before they start producing and shipping enough.. but who knows, things change at the blink of an eye in this new industry it seems, so maybe 6 months from now something may snap and they legalize it and along come more LP's to meet the new demand

I actually do expect to see this in the next month.
I am assuming that the rejections they're handing out will eventually make the pile small enough that they can start approving a few people..

We've already seen how HC changes/bends the rules when it benefits them (Just look at the 2200 LB in Kelowna airport). They will make this work, here's your license and don't come back complaining your business model failed.

i know that there is no way in hell the conservatives will legalize, but what will happen is trudeau will come into power and probably legalize, and with all the LP's in place, we will already have legal production facilities in business. though we will need more because we canadians love our mary jane. the statistics of how many canadians smoke can't be overly accurate..not many people are willing to tell a government official who is doing a survey that they use an illegal drug.

I'm getting the impression from people that QA is all well and good, they write their SOPs and think all is good, but then when it comes to actually adhering to these SOPs and creating quality product it's nowhere near what they expected. Guys like Tweed must have just been laughing at how easy it was going to be to grow plants inside, but then they made the mistake of importing MMAR product and doing so improperly or allowing it to get infected with mites once they had it inside.

Does anyone know which LPs are selling product they actual grew themselves (whether from clones or seeds) and managed to sell without irradiating? Is that available yet?

I don't think anyone that is shipping right now has grown it fully from seed to sale, but there will be a couple shipping in July and onwards that will be their own buds I guess. Just looking at the timeline it wasn't possible for Tilray and Tweed to have so much product that they grew themselves.

Any experienced and qualified grower will tell you the risks involved when introducing outside plants.
Been there, done that....
It can be devastating.
Pythium is the greatest danger.

Thanks for sharing....I was awaiting their release and watching the countdown as well. This indicates that they are likely having QA issues with their first batch.

I guess the number is 50. They apparently want no more then 50 lp's existing according to their latest HC amendments.

Can you get me a quote from the amendments?
They just used an assumed number of 50 for cost calculation purposes, nowhere does it say that they do not want more than 50 LP's. From the clipping Leaffan posted:

"The agency calculated the data based on the assumption that 50 licenced producers will operate in the market, even though it has received more than 600 applications.

The agency has never said whether there will be be a cap on the number of entrants allowed into the market, nor why it chose the number 50 for its analysis. It has approved licences for some 20 companies already."

Its in the first page of the new announcement, they are going for 50 LP's. This might be what they are saying will be the number this year?

Cost-benefit statement: Based on an assumed total of 50 licensed producers, each submitting up to 25 data extracts to the healthcare licensing authorities per reporting cycle, the total annualized average cost to the industry is estimated to be about $423,461, assuming an annual discount rate of 7% for 10 years. The total present value, in 2012 dollars, over the impact period (2015–2025) is $2,974,211.

Again, I think people are misinterpreting this. They needed a number to do their cost analysis, so they chose an arbitrary, and nice round number of 50. That is not a hard cap and likely just a (very) ball-park figure.

I also think that people are focussing too much on the total # of LP's. I think that total production capacity is what HC is ultimately looking at more so than the total number. One Tweed is the equivalent of 5-6 Delta 9's, so it comes down to who HC gives the licenses to. If they hand out a few more to the likes of Supreme and other mega-operators, that will likely be a good way for them to close the doors on new licenses for a long while as the market would be uber-flooded with all signs pointing to very few new patients signing up for the MMPR program in the foreseeable future.
