I've heard to go by this general rule too...If old leaves discolor and/or die it is a primary element/nutrient problemie: Nit. Phos. Pot. etc. And if new leaves are coming in bad or die then it is a secondary element prob..ie:...err umm I can't really remember maybe magnesium, calcium, sulfur I think. anyone feel free to corect me if I'm wrong...but I don't think I am. As far as your problem goes though, I think you are going about it the right way.

thanks for jumping on shen..

i considered Mg deficiency because my water is very hard and i know that >200 ppm can lock out Mg and Ca.

my water is in the 190s ppm-wise. so i was right on the fence.

i treated with epsom salts (1/2 tsp/gal) but it really didnt do a whole lot.

ive also had some people suggest Sulphur. not too sure, and i havent had much time as of late to look into that.

for now im going to run straigh h2o for a couple days and see how they are doing.

any advice you have is welcomed!

I found some of my notes. Sulfur can be blocked with too high a ph or too much calcium....which is what I put my money on since you have hard water. Are any of the leaf stems purple?

Well...since you asked Today has goten even better. I just got 74 seeds in the mail a minute ago. Got some Black Kush, Northern Lights, Sweet Nightmare, Blacklight, and last but def. not leaste Power Plant. My setup is just about as advanced as I could get it. I've moved indoors for my first swim. Veg room is on drip, Flower is ebb n' flow. I'll probably post some pics soon. Theres too much stuff to list!
