New leaf growth, 5 weeks into flower

Hi

Not had this on any of my previous grows, but then if I'm honest I've never made many mistakes like I have in this one.

I've been in 12/12 for 5 weeks, by now the buds are normally pretty bushy. Not this time. Been away for a week and have come back and they are noticeably taller and have new leaf growth. They still have some new white pistols too and the bud seems to be growing all the way down each stem, but it's very airy and no density at all.

My only theory is that a couple weeks back they went 3 days without water. The plant sacked a chunk of the leaves dry, those leaves now shedded and it's all Green and healthy again, but is it growing new leaf in defence because of that? No sign of it being a herm that I can see.

Any ideas?

OK, so I think I've worked out the problem, hopefully this will simply cause a delay and nothing permanent!

Went in to take the pics this morning, lights should have been off, they were not. Looks like my timer is bust and the lights have not been going off! So the plant is simply going back into veg!

I've turned them off now and I'll give it 24 hours of darkness, if I go back to 12/12 will it simply revert back to flower? It's the tallest scrog I've ever done that's for sure!

I'll get some pics up anyway

Going to be interesting to see how this pans out. I'm definitely going to need to reorganise things and get things a bit more spread out, luckily I have some net left on the outside so should be able to spread it all out a bit and get light to most of the lower parts of these towers I now have.

Could end up being a monster crop, or could end up being full of seeds!

I think your timer has been screwed up the whole time. At 5 weeks you should have decent sized colas and there isn't even decent sized buds on those yet. You can count on 6 - 8 weeks minimum flowering once they get back to growing buds.

I don't see a ScroG anywhere either. Putting a screen in to support buds doesn't make it a ScroG.

I was chatting to the wife tonight actually trying to work out when the timer broke. I think it must have been around week 3. I went in to try and reorganise it all tonight, to get it back flat again, the whole thing was very sticky and there are signs of buds, just very whispy and no density at all.

I also did notice when stretch stopped as I remember being pleased I could have some time off organising them as they were a big stretcher! So that must have been a couple weeks into flower. So it must have been after that. But that would explain why I now have these massive pillars and it looks like a classic scrog done wrong picture you normally see, I've not done much maintenance of it since then as I've been away, so it's taken its chance to have another stretch and grow while I had my eye off it!

After week 2, when it had stopped stretching, it was a beautiful flat canopy on the net. You wouldn't know it looking at it now though!

I stopped reorganising tonight as ran out of time, but it did make me wonder if they are going to stretch again? Because I was going to just leave them with towers and just get them spread better to get light further down them, but if there is more stretch to come I'm going to have to fully re scrog them and get them back down again, I was just conscious I didn't want to add even more stress to the plants and increase my chance of them panicked hermy.

Any advice much appreciated as this is new territory for me, done many grows, but never like this!

I would continue tying down grow tips for now. If they go thru stretch again you could end up with them being another foot or more taller.

Looks like you could get a good crop off that once they're all headed in one for steady flowering.

At this point... GET SOME CLONES!!! Put the girls back on 12/12 but see if you can get some clones through a nice tlc 3 weeks with 24hr light making sure you can at least recover next run

Yeah it could turn out to be a real blessing in terms of crop size.

Going to need to spend a real chunk of time in there to reorganise it though, so many towers from where I'd also cropped them along the way, I'll get it all back flat over the next day or so and will report back just for educational purposes if anyone is curious.

Went in tonight to attempt to to back down, but it's such a jungle and they are so tall I need a plan to do this, I can't just wing it, currently although too high, they are in good light spots, I'm cautious if I use up the rest of my net, I will be taking some of them out of the best light overall. Need to get my light meter back off a friend so I can see if there is much difference. I might end up just fanning them out a bit rather than fully tie down. They are stinking and sticky right down them stem, which makes the playing with them even more interesting!

Would love to do this, but currently only running one grow room because of renovations and asked around to my friends, but none of the timings are right for anyone, even those with multiple tents just don't have either the space or right amount of time to even give them 2 weeks of veg. Real shame as bet they would have made some really busy clones.
