new large scale set up questions

i have recently accuired a concrete partially under ground building that is 3 room of open space, one is 30 feet x 30 feet with a 16 foot high celing, and the other two are 28 feet x 30 feet with 12 foot celings. my questions are how many plants can fit comfrotabley in there and how many lights will i need? i was going to use the 30x30 for flowering, 1 28x30 for vegging, and the other 28x30 for clones, work space, and storage. and other ideas would be great

well....so this will just be for your personal use right. Lets see, general rule of thumb, figure one sqft/plant so your 30 by 30 room will fit about 900. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say you have no idea what your are talking about at this point, that is perfectly alright, you came top the right place to get answers.
The best production method doesn't need a vegging room, plants taken as clones done properly can go right into flowering light. I recommend you read AL B Fucts journal, Get A Harvest Every Two Weeks, first. this will give you a good idea of what can be done. Then I would probably recommend a trip to Amsterdam or maybe California if you establish some good contacs in a forum like this one to see some commercial operations and what things you may want to be aware of. Garden Knowm may be able to help with that once we have assured ourselves you are not Leo. It would probably be a good idea to try and visit some Hydro vegetable growing operation in Canada as well. For an operation that size, if you are not a hvac man you will want to have one you trust to set up an air handling system for a special Agricultural Building, an electrician and a plumber. For an operation that size you may want to establish someone in a Hydro Shop, the mark-up is probably 100% from wholesale to retail. The saving you would receive would pay for the business, I do not live in New York.
You may also want to investigate growing Oyster Mushrooms in that space. The mushrooms will produce the co2 you need and give youa secondary saleble crop. Boost Buckets use mushrooms as the medium if you want to investigate that.

one wall looked like it had been recently patched up so i did a little investigating and there is a hole nother room that is 28x42 feet with a 14 foot celing. yes its for personal use, do you have any advice on how to make better use of all this space? i think i might need to reconcider on my use of space. the building used to be a 10 bay automotive repair shop.

Same as before. Read Al B fucts journal. Figure on just setting up one of the room, doesn't matter which one. If it used to be a Garage it will already have enough electric there, already be water lines and more than likely floor drains. With that kind of room you could start with soil to learn some things about the plants which would allow for more lights and good ventilation and still stay within the budget, Keep in mind at least 5 months from seed to weed. After that you could be harvesting every two weeks. VV

that's a huge space. do you have any historical info on its power consumption? it seems like that would give you some idea of how big you can go on the grid. i think that might dictate how much of the space you actually want to use for now.

the average electric and gas bill was close to $1000 every month and sometimes close to $1500 in the winter months. so i dont think that there is going to be a problem with drawing too much

I mean... you have space to run like 100,000 watts or something. Since you have a $10,000 budget, you could just build like a 16'x16'x10' tent with 2x4's and panda plastic and put like 9x1000w in it. Then you need to air cool those bitches with some huge fans. You could pull like >1000cfm through each row of three. Then also the ventilation for the actual grow space in the tent too. With that much ceiling space, you could grow some pretty awesome bushes in some good sized containers. You could feed that with a smaller veg space where you keep some mothers with just 1x1000. How's the climate control in your space?

each room has its own hvac system with both heaters and ac units. it is easy to controll the climate in there

sounds like a fun project. if I was near by, I'd pitch in some help putting it together.

the closest neighbors are almost 2 miles away, and i would like to use it permantly, that is the plan to fill it with a perpetual grow. thaets why iv asked if any one could give a guess on how many 1000watt lights i might need.

whats the number of plants you would like?
thats how youll know how many lights youll need.
if its for personal use i would suggest like 100 plants straight into flowering basiacally with the two week harvest sea of green type grow as previously mentioned.
in which case you would want like, 6-8 1000 watt lights maybe?
it all depends on how much you want to have in the end.

I would start with 4 1000w lights and 60-80 plants. This will use up approximately 1% of your building. then $30,000 later you can add whatever you want

wow this does sound like a fuuun project...FYI i wouldnt give out too much personal info about building, location, zip codes, land markers or anything like that especially if this operation is gonna grow... for 300 clones every two weeks just like anything else it depends...if you already have some mothers you like you can clone em to the ground and take 50 or so to make mothers put em in huge pots and let em veg out during the first few batches...once they literally turn into trees you could maybe have 5 HUGE mothers under like a couple thousand watts of MH and would probaly be able to take 50 or so cuttings every 2 weeks after a few cycles...

in that space like others have said i would just start small... use one room, get 5-10 hps lights and start with soil... once you recieve your paycheck then you can start thinkin large scale

i donno how much experiene you have growing but you have to figure that the first rule of growing is not to tell ANYBODY which means your more than likely going to be doing alot of the work yourself... feeding pruning manicuring which takes a bit of work especially if you are having to travel to that location... with a large op your going to want to invest in as much automation as possible.. auto climate controls, lighting controls, irrigation as well as maybe mechanical harvesters and trimmers... so think about the amount of time you can realisticly invest before you start thinkin about the money cuz if you put your money in the wrong place and dont add the time youll end up with a warehouse full of lights n dirt.... not to mention you need to think about how much of this you will actually be able to .....smoke.... last thing you want is someone to find a warehouse full of bud with a bunch of packaged up bud layin around...just adds to the charges..

just remember small risks small mistakes big risks big mistakes.. taking care of a few hundred plants by yourself is no easy task... sorry for the rant but my mind started to go a million thoughts per second LOL

PS. if i were you and the place was paid for i would sell my house/ leave my apartment and move out there and convert one room to a living quarters to be able to better tend to the property and watch the surroundings... because your going to have to pay property taxes on it as well as utilities and would make sense to consolodate your expenses at least till you ummm have a little more disposable income.

you need 3 ez clone 120 unit machines and about 5-10 mothers. and 4 or 5 T5 lights with the 8 bulbs in it
