New in Washington, DC!

Hi there, I'm a newbie!

When DC gave out free seeds, I stood in that long line for hours in the freezing cold and got 2 seeds. One of them died but one of them is now flowering...although to my sadness, it's appears to be male.

He's flowering and I'm getting this white pollen whenever I move the plant. At first, I thought it was mold, but there's no mold on any of my leaves, and t hen when I looked up male plants, I saw an exact pic of my plant on Google Images.

Bummer...esp. since we can't buy any weed, despite it being legal!

Anyway, that aside, I stumbled across some info that says I can still smoke my male plant, and since he's just beginning to flower and spew his pollen, I wanted to post here and ask what I should do.

From what I can tell, now is the time (before he spews) to just cut the top 1/4 plant off and...that's where it gets fuzzy. Do I dry it out and smoke it? or do I something else with it?

Hey, keep in mind that in DC & once the laws catch up to the DC residents, I'll be a regular grower! I have an amazing direct sun source in my Georgetown condo! But for now, I could use help getting a buzz from my one and only plant. I suspect there are many folks, btw, here in Washington who are in the same boat...I know I hung with quite a few peeps getting their seeds just like me in March in the freezing cold...

Depending on the strain - it might be good it might not be good.
You are gonna want to harvest the leaves that have trichs on them. There are some studies that actually show male plants have had higher concentrations of THC than the female of the same strain.
The problem with male plant consumption is that you are stuck with only leaf material to smoke. That is gonna be less enjoyable than female flowers. Some cultures around the world only use the male plants to make hashish. If you end up with enough quantity you have the hashish option available. I recommend you buy some bag and scavenge some seeds that way and start over soon so you will have some Christmas bud to smoke.

UPDATE: I'm still quite sure I have a male plant, but I also have these little buds with hairs coming out of them, so maybe my plant is both.

That said, here's another question: my plant is still "flowering" - that is, he/she is giving me these tiny white flowers. I also have this white powder that sometimes falls from the opened flowers. That's why I think it's male...pollen, right?

QUESTION: whenever I look at pics of young plants flowering (Google images), all I get are pics of plants with massive bud-like growths. My plant does not look like that, and that's my confusion. It's simply flowering...So, are the tiny white "flowers" I'm getting on my young plant what they call the "harvesting growth"?

I'm trying to figure out what I should do. the plant is strong and growing upright rather quickly (over 2' tall now), giving me a few flowers per each new stem/leaf growth, but do I remove them? or "top-off" the top? or just wait for them to fall off? (I've been doing the latter so far cuz they easily fall off, but I have quite a few new flowers on the top of the plant and wonder if I should cut off the top now, even though it's continuously sprouting new flowers...)

One more question: is the white powder that falls from the opened flowers pollen? or is that the trichs that you mention above? It does get on the lower leaves but easily blows off. Should I be cultivating the leaves with the powder on them?

Www.growweedeasy.Com is not confusing what so ever...honestly coming from a newer grow, you need to start reading a lot...I mean a lot...it doesn't matter how many questions you have or how many people actually answer your not going to get the brunt of it

Start googling your questions and start digging in and take notes!! Start looking up a legit seed bank to order from...ALWAYS pay for the stealth shipping ALWAYS especially coming threw customs...really you doing the research for the basics is the only way your going to really learn...you might just not know the right people...it's a legal "state" there out there buddy...I'm sure there are plenty

No the group that legalized it had a "seed party" well they only have done this twice lol

And just be patient OP they are fighting for dispensaries to be put in

order from a domestic dispensary. It's legal where you are so I think you're safe.

Still federally illegal....mail is federal so no state can ship anything "legally"

When you ship seeds always small order...and yea I figured you ment a bank lol but honestly I believe they could still get that tip...it's a reason for someone to get busted (maybe) now I know ordering overseas customs will take your seeds, seal the envelope put the red sticker of death and send it (the stealth was dvds....lol they still sent the dvds with a letter inside) but that's why you pay for stealth and a gooood overseas seed bank will ship until you get type of thing...I love my seedbank for it

I'm just too paranoid in my state. I saw in the paper a couple years ago they busted a grow in a neighboring town prompted by seed order. The bastards even waited 3 months so they'd catch them with plants.

Well I'm sure if it's like your name, the great state of Texas would do such a thing.....

If not tho...
Keep orders small so if they are caught by customs...1 your not losing out your whole 2 week paycheck and 2 you think customs have time to deal with someone ordering 5 seeds?....and just try and void the port in Illinois by anyway means necessary

They still come threw....mine actually went threw there but just a lot of people say Illinois port just catches them more often....you'll be good to order over seas just get stealth shipping

Omg don't smoke your male... Most you could do is maybe try to make bubble hash but that maybe more trouble than it's worth to you.

Also I wouldn't recommend trying to order any seeds through the mail bc that's federal offense. And even if you did, it's late in the growing season so you'd have to grow indoors at this stage in the year which for you might be tough for a first time grower.

Best thing about d recommend is maybe try to connect with people in dc for free seeds or see if you have buy an 8th of Reggie and pluck out some seeds that way (still illegal to buy but much less risky than going through the mail.

Thanks for clarifying that...I'm NOT into buying seeds. I'm a lawyer! I know what the deal is, but legally, we are able to "share".

So, all these posts on buying new seeds kind of missed my point.

I'm doing what I'm allowed to do...which is grow a plant (which I did & it's freaking awesome, right?) and now I just have questions...

Thanks! I suspect...honestly...that it's just a matter of time before it becomes legal to buy...AND legal in every State.

I'm hopeful! meanwhile, I got this male plant... LOL
