New here, just need some pointers please

So im a new grower, i have a grow tent 80x80x160cm (2.6' x2.6'x5.2'ft) im going to put 4 flowers inside. I am going to use Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil only. I have 2 Hydro Mars LED 300w. My question is when I go to the store and pick up clones how should i introduce them to led, should i turn only 1 light on them a couple of days later turn both. Also the height of leds i have at 18" is that good? Second question is after I put my clone in foxfarms ocean forest soil do i just water or should i add nutes (dont want to burn them) any info for a first timer would be greatly appreciated

Don't know about led spacing, never used them. FFOF is sometimes too hot for germination so you may want to start them in Dixie cups using FFOF that you have leached a bit to take the nute level down. You will not need to provide nutes for about 3 weeks after last transplant. But make sure they have a little cal/ mag in the water or add a little lime to your soil. Good luck!
 
Put the lights as high up as you can. Then lower them slowly, watching for heat stress/light burn.

The 18" rule is crap. Especially to start new clones.
 
Looks ok.... Nice work getting things setup.. It shows you put some effort into it.

I think the clones have a deficiency... It should correct itself since FFOF is pretty well rounded. You will need a bottle of CalMag and some nutes. I'd recommend GH FLoranova veg and Bloom. They are good nutes, well priced and one bottle lasts for years.

What are your temps? Do you have a vortex fan and filter?

I goot GH floranova bloom but not veg. My temp is at 85* and humidity at 45%. I dont have a vortex fan and filter just a clip on fan and a tower fan
 
The best $30 bucks I ever spent investing in grow gear, was the TDS pen, if you haven't got one yet, get one next. Actually knowing( within the specs of my cheapo meter) the parts per million level of the nutrients being mixed has proved to be invaluable. It will allow you to develop your OWN feeding chart.

What should ppm be at for veg and flower? Im growing green crack
 
Hard to tell with the blurple lights, but I'd guess you have some light burn going there. Raise the lights as high as you can. Too little light won't hurt them at this stage of growth, but too much will kill them.
 
I wouldn't worry about not having floranova grow. Ffof has enough nutrients to get you to bloom usually. Might need to add some cal mag though starting around w4 of veg if you go that far. You can use floranova bloom for the entire grow if you want too, I've done it in a hydro set up and it worked well, look up the Lucas formula and there's a calculator that will tell you roughly how much of everything you need, you can plug in different nutes to see how to mix with different brands too. The formula isn't perfect but it will work, every strain has it's own particular needs and until you get your girls dialed in its a good guideline. Just pay attention to what looks deficient or when you're burning your plants and make minor adjustments.

Also since you're growing in ffof and not adding nutes for a while I'd suggest making a compost tea if you have the space for a 5 falling bucket and a aquarium air pump. There's a thread somewhere on the forums by a member named Heisenberg that gives a recipe for a very cheap and effective tea. Not only will the tea free up nutrients from the organics in your soil for your girls to eat but it'll help out with all the nasty little soilborne pests and given you have the right microbes will also promote root growth. I would at the very least do this in veg since you're not using synthetic salts as nutrients.
 
so should i start adding cal/mg to my r/o water? i heard some people always add cal/mg even without having any deficiency
 
You have to add cal mag to ro water, or I'm pretty sure you can also use a foliar spray to feed them it but I don't have much experience with that. The point of running an ro filter is to have pure water with nothing in it. Tap water normally has small amounts of calcium magnesium etc. Some people will never need cal mag using tap water. But tap water has chlorine, chloramines, softener and many more things that can make growing more difficult.

Yes^^^^

Turn your fan so it blows around your plants and not on your plants.

Until you have a well established root system water sparing and mist as needed in between waterings.
 
I would say shine the TDS meter till later and get acid/base and a PH meter. You know how much nutrients youre putting in the soil, and since there's no reservoir, it's not really something you need to worry about. If you ever use Silica, or something like that you will need a PH meter.

I have a tower fan inside at what speed would you say i should put it on. 1,2,3? I dont want to go crazy blowing these ladies around
