im new here as well, but that setup is definately pro! could you have vegged a little longer? i dont know how your strains stretch... but sure u got it dialed in... how big is that tent? did you make it yourself?

everyone aparment should be equipped with a room like this! haha

ha ha, thanks, its a 4x4x7 grow tent, i spent like 150.00 bucks shipped for it on ebay. Gonna get the larger Sunhut silver when i get the money up.

The plants were vegged for about six weeks, 4 of which they were badly mistreated, so i took them from a buddy who was growing them and nursed them back to heathl, then i took the nine best looking females and that is what i have.

also, just took clones as well, 16, so they will veg until harvest, then into the tent they will go. cya

I have found that after vegging under 1k watt hps my ladies leaves and stems got A LOT fatter compared to when i was vegging under flourescents, cfls, even my 400 watter ... i would love to see what they could do with a 1k watt mh... if vegged under the right conditions your plant would be triple the size... in almost half the time! From now on, unless im doing somewhere around 25 plants per light, I will always veg for at least 3 weeks under 1k watts! just some valuable info i had to learn the hard way...

ive vegged under a 1kw as well, my first grow, and have found no difference in size whether my 1kw or 400w, plants in veg require far less light to mature than flower.
sur
the only way to double size is perfect conditions in a fogponics type setup, i grow in soil, and my plants dont see a difference in the light. Sure, if i was going to veg alot of plants that required a light with a larger foot print then i would go with my 1kw, but i only veg 9 plants at a time in solo cups, i can veg for two months in solo cups before they become rootbound. Try a smaller light with smaller pots, you will see that they didnt need or utilize as much light as you thought.

deminishing return is a bitch, and sometimes we throw more light than a plant is capable of using without increasing nutes/co2 ppm, (only way to increase speed, or hydro)

Natural sunlight is about 10,000 lumens, and plants dont use all of it, so with a 1k, it wouldnt make sense, unless you had enough plants to cover a 4x4 area.

this, however i would argue! one month sure, but after that your talking about 1/10th of a gallon roughly, by far limiting the plants capacity for growth! cmon! it should be common sense that the further the roots stretch, the larger the rest of the plant will grow... and you dont need to grow tall either hack that ish down or use some bushmaster to keep it in check... dont skimp on the medium! unless your suffercating your plants with too much water they should be growing a lot faster in veg.... just my thoughts... wheres the updated pics? i just started some lsd, sour cream, great white, cheese and church! ill post as soon as they pop so you can see im not all talk!!! ill also take pics of this harvest next month... some grapefruit diesel and purple kush!

i just noticed i said 25 above.... just to be clear i would only put 25 plants under 1k with no veg... minimum could probably fit 40 under there.

different strokes for different folks, i keep em relatively small in the cups, i dont like the plants to get that tall in veg, i may top once or twice, or a little lst but ive always had good success. i do have to water them quite often after a month of growing tho.

Hey Im a newbie at this (my 1st plants are two weeks old), but I recently read another post where a guy said ridges on the leaves are a sign of overheating. I noticed on the pics of your setup ridges on the plants.

Again I'm a newb,Im mostly wondering if ridges do mean too much heat. I got a 400W HPS/MW coming in the mail this week. I'm worried the 400W might be overkill for my ~5 SQ FT space and cause overheating.

i had 1k watts in a tiny closet!! (long ago) about 6 sq ft.. as long as its vented out well at the top of your space your should be good! you need fresh air too.. get a thermometer!

also.. ridges are common on a lot of strains in early growth..

2fast.. i just started a journal.. i hope to hear from you...
