New heat infared temperature gun to catch grow ops

I just seen a local news paper today, saying that a town two hours from mine, just invested 28,000$ in a infared temperature gun, that can register heat from grow op bulbs, even through walls. scary shit

i thought this wasn't new technology? there are already devices where they can detect heat leaving your grow room, i think they are about on the same level. you say this gun can read the heat off your bulbs, through the WALLS?? that seems a little invasive..

Can it see the hot blood in my erect penis?

It's just a handheld infrared detector. These aren't "new", but they aren't in widespread use by law enforcement (at least not in the US). Energy auditors use the same thing when they come inspect your home for "heat leaks", poor insulation, water damage, etc.

As far as "seeing through walls", they can't. Yes, they can see heat that's ESCAPING your home, but if you live in a temperate area of the US (hot in summer, cold in winter) then chances are you have adequate insulation to prevent such heat from being "visible" outside your home.

If you're worried about infrared detection, the areas that are usually poorly insulated are: attic spaces, crawlspaces, and around doors and windows.

Simple solutions: Don't grow in your attic without adding extra insulation, don't grow in your crawlspace EVER, and don't put a super-hot light right up against a window.

i will say it again if you have a salt water aquarium that will pose a good cover since they use very similar lighting

they need a warrant to use flir:roll:

and if they have a warrant your already busted.:fire:

EDIT: and it is NOT new tech by a sight. shits like a decade old.

Wow.. who uses a 1000W light in their aquarium? :bigjoint:

Most aquarium lights (unless you're growing some serious plants in your tank) are fluorescent, which aren't hot enough to radiate heat out of your home and won't be visible on infrared. They aren't at all similar to what people use for growing cannabis.

You can use MH lights in your tank, but chances are they aren't going to be 400W, 600W, or 1000W unless you have a 4'x4' or 6'x6' tank

If you don't want infrared to be able to "see into" your home (aka: heat escaping FROM your home), then insulate it. Plain and simple.

you obviously dont know anything about salt water tanks...

most serious reef tanks are running 400w or even 1000w MH lighting hell i have a buddy running 3 1000w mh on his tank and nearly everyone else i know are running either dual 250w or dual 400w MH set ups

but a side note cops also check your power consumption not just heat signatures
