New Guy... 17 days in.

I’ve been lurking the forums here since I got my grow room set up back in September. I used to grow outside in the woods behind my parent’s house for about four seasons back when I was 15. Mostly mid grade “Christmas bud”, is what we used to call it. This was back when hydro was referred to as “Crypt Bud” and was only in major cities. We’d get it once in a while, but not like it’s available today.

I’ve been wanting to get back into growing for the past 15 or so years and have been wanting to go hydro of course. Our local nursery just opened a whole section for hydro growing, so it seemed the time was right. ;)

I had everything set up and started experimenting with tomato clones until the seed order came in. First 10 seeds, from a crap seed bank, did not sprout tap roots at all, even after 10-12 days. I went with a different reputable seed bank next and only got 2 to give me a decent tap root. I don’t know if it has something to do with being fem seeds or not, but whatever, I’ll be cloning after this harvest, so no big deal as long as everything pans out.

I ended up with one Black Sugar and One White Widow+Big Bud.
Here’s what I have so far… this is under a 1000watt MH. I have a 1000watt HPS ready to go for the 12/12. This is with a single MH/HPS ballast.

Right now I'm at 17 days from putting the seeds into peat moss pellets (water leaves started showing right around 48 hours after). I consider day 1 though those two days before the water leaves showed..

I topped/pinched both after 14 days. I know from what I’ve read on here that’s pretty soon, but reading the plants, they looked like they could handle it. I also wanted to slow the growth a little. I think after 2 more tops/pinching, I’ll start super cropping.

Here's everything I have.

The one with the pen reference is the WW+BB and you can see where I pulled it back, the 2 new nodes are coming out. This was pinched/topped Monday at 14 days. The black sugar is pretty much the same, but maybe 2 days behind.

I also made my own humidifier, just because I'm into fish tanks as well and had a heater laying around and an extra bucket. Otherwise I would have bought one at wally world. I may still do that, but it raised the humidity 12 points, so idk, we'll see.

I'm at 77 degrees steady with around a 42-44% humidity, and holding ph right at 5.6-5.8.

I know they look REAL far away from that light. I have two thoughts on that, but that's a different story

Here's some pics.
